wnba fever, 7.16.25

yesterday, we pulled up to td to watch caitlin clark & co. take on the connecticut sun. we got club seats, which is what i prefer as you don’t have to deal with the rush of people when you need something to eat or need to use the bathroom. though cc didn’t go off, it was great to see her play, plus the game was competitive until the end. it was my 2nd time at td, and the garden really is a legendary venue. i have yet to catch a concert there, but maybe mine might be my first.

layoffs, 7.15.25

today, they called a townhall meeting at 10:30am. it lasted 10 minutes and was an announcement of layoffs. thank God, my team wasn’t involved, but it still doesn’t feel good. they’re terminating folks in waves of 3 starting in september. so much so, everyone remaining will be moved to the third floor and they’ll relinquish the lease on the second floor. the crazy part is i’m an employee and i didn’t know until this morning, but last night i saw on the biotech subreddit that gsk was going through a reorg soon. then today, the news comes out. one of the comments asked if the rumor came from a reputable source and the original poster responded that it was ‘reputable information just in today.’ i wonder how they knew and who it was that posted that. it’s a sad time to be a part of gsk, especially at binney street. the biotech industry is not in a good position right now, but i wonder if it ever was to begin with. perhaps in sometime before me, but one thing is for sure, and it’s that everyone here deserved better than to have less than a 24-hour notice before this announcement. in corporate america, or at my job at least, they want you to move like a family as this boosts morale and productivity, but as soon as they decide so, it’s business is business.

what a terrible (and confusing) way to do things.

tiktok views, 7.14.25

i woke up to my biggest tiktok ever. it’s at 160 something likes and 1800 views. it feels good that the writing is resonating with a bigger audience! even if it’s just this video, we’re trending in the right direction! t loves to tell me ‘all it takes is one’ when it comes down to the writing and the music, and we’re getting closer every post. after we hit one, we’ll do it again.

and again.

and again.

and again.

you get the point.

a different world again, 7.13.25

after finishing the tylenol murders on netflix, i was looking for the next show and came across a different world! since when was a different world on netflix?? that’s my favorite show, only 2nd to the cosby show. i put on an episode and was brought back to when i first started watching in 2016. it’s such a wonderful show. it gives me a feeling i can’t describe. it’s almost like i’m time traveling but can’t step out of the spaceship. it’s a difficult feeling to describe, but it’s a unique one. i forgot how beautiful lisa bonet was around this time. speaking of time traveling, i need to go to the universe where lenny kravitz didn’t get her pregnant just so i could see how different a different world would be had she been involved to the very end, but since i can’t, i’ll have to settle for a different world in this universe.

though this certainly is no consolation at all.

going to not need to, 7.12.25

i was on the way out of the kfc in methuen for dinner when chan called me. he asked me if i had made vacation plans since the last time we spoke. i told him i hadn’t to which he responded that i’ve been saying i needed a vacation for the past year. i really haven’t been on an actual vacation since 2023 if i’m being honest with myself. i told him the reason i can’t take a vacation is because i feel i’d be missing out on time working and that i haven’t received any traction or motion with the music or the writing. he told me a change of scenery would inspire me and that i need to live a little. it’s just difficult to feel i deserve a vacation if i haven’t seen any progress from the creative projects, but he is right. i kept telling him how i need to take one as our conversation kept going but at the end he said instead of saying ‘i need to’ say 'i’m going to.’ we hung up the phone and he said he’d call me back tonight at 11pm and by then i’d need to have bought some type of ticket somewhere.

at this point, i’ve got 30 minutes, but i’ve had a few ideas of places i’d like to go and things i’d like to experience so it shouldn’t be hard to figure things out.

boston flooding, 7.10.25

it was raining so much they had flooding on the highways this morning. mainly south of boston and boston, but some north of boston as well. they sent an email to people telling them to stay home or use caution when coming in. i fought traffic for 1.5 hours off two hours of sleep because i needed to sign and scan something for our cmo, which ironically was the reason i didn’t get an award last year lmao. i went to work for a few hours and came home. this life is draining tf outta me, mainly work.

though overall my life is good, i’m in desperate need of change at the moment.

corporate america bs, 7.8.25

corporate america is much different than what i thought it would be. there’s a biasness that runs from top down and when you ask why that is, nobody has an answer. the people who say they’re vouching for you will only do so if it sheds them in a positive light, if not, they’ll step on you. anything that goes against the bias (as unfair and unjustified as it is) will never catch traction as nobody wants to sacrifice the possibility of a promotion (no matter how small) to stand up for someone or something else even if it’s the right thing to do. i had a former boss tell me today i didn’t get an award because i didn’t go to oklahoma to work with our cmo last year. i vividly remember him asking me in the cafe but i had to decline because i either had an appointment or had to travel for ta’s funeral. either way, the reason i couldn’t make it was out of my control as he asked me last minute. then he said the guy he gave it to was present. dog, i didn’t take a vacation until december. what the fuck is he talking about? this whole place is just a big fuck you to me and everytime i stand up for myself, they hold it against me. the biotech industry is in bad shape right now so finding another job will be difficult, though i am searching. more than that, i have to make it out of corporate america.

i’ve been trying and though they said you can never fail if you try, it sure feels like it these days…

the great dane, 7.7.25

i’ve only had the opportunity to see a great dane in person a few times. the first was when i was young and my family lived in warwick. my brother had a friend that he used to hang out with. this friend ironically knew an older sibling of the girl i had a crush on who also lived up the street. anywaysk, when my mom would drop or pick my brother up from his friend’s house, we would see his great dane his family had. the dog was humongous, almost like a horse. the second time i would see a great dane was at the dog park in charlotte that bagel and i used to go to. the third time would be today. as i’m driving through the star market parking lot going home from work, i see someone tied their great dane to a tree outside. it was a mild, overcast day, so he was chilling but he was so big. i couldn’t believe it. dogs are an interesting case study because they’ve gotta be the most genetically diverse species. humans have different races and ethnicities. we’re all pretty much the same, but dogs have so much diversity from shape, color, size, etc.

even though i’m not as small as i was when i first saw a great dane, they’re still as magnificent now as they were when i was a kid.
