tripping breakers, 8.3.23

i woke up at 5:30am, got to work sometime in the 6’s, and have been carrying out an experiment since then. 10 minutes ago, my whole set up shut down due to a breaker tripping. the breaker was reset and i was able to continue, but the weights were off because the scales had reset themselves. the weight is of extreme importance due to the calculations the software makes based on what the scales read. i had to either empty and reload my material on to the apparatus or tare the scale and find things that weigh what my material does in order to ‘trick’ the software into continuing where it left off. my retentate scale weight was 1165.3. through the use of a couple of c-weights, some tri-clamps, and a roll of green tape, i was able to get my weight back to 1164.6. close enough. i’m ready to get this over with and head on home back to bagel.

it’s already been a day and it’s only 12:24pm.

making time, 8.2.23

i thought i was going to have to eat out and skip grocery shopping for tonight, but after talking to e on the phone after work, he told me i needed to make time. i told him i needed to go to the park with bagel, work out, then hit costco. the issue is costco closes at 8:30pm, the gym would be packed around 6:30pm-7:00pm, and it was 5:38pm. e said i just have to do it and that he was in the same predicament as he needed to go hoop, take a walk, and grocery shop. i took btg to the park and walked our 1.5 miles. i dropped him off, fed him, then drove to a planet fitness in danvers. to my surprise, it wasn’t as busy as i thought it’d be. i got my workout in. then i drove to costco right across the street, filled up on gas, and picked up some strawberries and refrigerated tikka. i just got done cooking the tikka, and althought it’s better than what i can do, it’s not maya by any means. but hey, at least i didn’t eat out and i was able to be productive after work, which are two important things.

home alone, 8.1.23

i dropped the family off at the airport today. they’re going to minnesota to see ta. i didn’t go because there was nobody to watch bagel, but it’s alright because bagel and i are watching the house for the next week. it’ll be a glimpse of what living alone feels like again, which is something i’ve missed these past 2.5 years. it’ll also give me the opportunity to record without feeling self-conscious or that someone can hear me, but come to think of it, if i think like that, how will the world ever hear me? i don’t know, i’ll figure something out but i digress. this next week will be one of quiet and solitude.

who knows, maybe that’s what i need right now.

919 at 5 guys, 7.31.23

i went to chipotle to get a bowl, but they didn’t have vinaigrette. this was like the third time the past week they didn’t have any. must be a shortage. anyhow, after leaving, i thought of how i wanted a burger. i went to 5 guys in stoneham. i didn’t think stoneham was as close as it was to me, but i was pleasantly surprised when i pulled up. i got the strawberry milkshake (5 guys has the best shakes btw), a cheeseburger, and some fries. as i was waiting for my food, i looked around at the decorations. one of the magazines on the wall was cary magazine. i immediately thought of home, but i had to take a closer look to make sure. i saw apex and knew it was from 919. they had a mention of how 5 guys was one of the best burgers in town. the only 5 guys in cary i know of is the one by barnes & nobles. justin, our neighbor across the street, worked there in the mid-late-2000’s. i remember him saying how it got super busy because obama went to 5 guys and said it was good. i don’t know if it’s true or if he went to the cary location (probably not), but that’s what i remember. years later, when i finally would try 5 guys, it was pretty damn good.

tonight, was no different, so maybe chipotle wasn’t the move after all.

barbenheimer, 7.30.23

there’s been this thing this past two weeks about two movies that came out: barbie and oppenheimer. i don’t really watch movies, but i’m glad that hollywood is moving on from remakes. i mean, there’s always going to be remakes, but damn, it seems like everything these days is a remake just like it seems we meet the same person in different bodies, but that’s a different story for a different day.

i will be passing on these two features, but let me know when the next great gangster movie comes out.

i’ll be waiting.

rained on, 7.29.23

thinking we’d beat the rain, bagel and i headed to ipswich. as soon as we park and head past the courts, it starts raining. i thought about turning around, but figured why not get one round in while we were there. plus, there were others out hanging under the awning and even running in the rain. after our 1 round, i had to go get gas. when i pulled in, my distance to empty said 0 miles, which was a first. we filled up on gas, drove through the rain back home, only to get out and have it be sunny, smh.

life works like that sometimes.

formatting issues, 7.28.23

tumblr changed their new post uploader and it messed up with the formatting of the running diary. i have some time this weekend to get it resolved, but in the meantime, please excuse the mess.

nobody really uses tumblr anymore so it’ll be difficult to find a theme i like as much as the old one, but maybe change is a good thing.

kimball farms first, 7.26.23

kimball farms is only 30 minutes away from where i live so i went and checked it out today. it was hard to find parking, but i paralleled it (only because nobody was there). they have so many different activities to do. they have mini golf, an arcade, pitch & putt, a driving range, a batting cage, a zipline, animals, ice cream, and a restaurant. you can buy a wristband that allows you to do 3 or 5 of those activities. we did the ‘give me 3’ and it was so fun. mini golf is always a good time. at the arcade, i tried the claw machines and came up empty-handed. after a winless outing, we played mario kart and that was actually one of the highlights. i enjoyed it way more than i thought i would have. we went to pitch & putt before realizing it was too hot, and more importantly, not for us. the day ended with ice cream under the shade of a tent after a few hours in the sun. though pitch & putt didn’t work out for us, i had a blast.

it was my first time at kimball farms, and it definitely won’t be my last.

the tikka fast, 7.25.23

it has been a while since i’ve ate. i fast after sunday dinner to monday dinner because i think there are benefits to fasting. i didn’t eat after the drizzy concert, then i skipped lunch for the fast, and ended up skipping dinner last night because i was tired. i ate my first meal in over 48 hours today. it was a tv dinner chicken parm along with a 50g protein shake. typically, i can finish that no problem, but i was struggling with the shake today. i guess my stomach shrank, but my appetite will be back by the end of the week no worries. i was also upset, well not upset but feeling some type of way because when i went to warm up my food, i seen tikka masala trays on the counter all emptied out which means i missed out on the company buying us indian food, smh.

i still ate good, but knowing i could’ve ate better got me craving maya.

making it back, 7.24.23

o got too turnt and didn’t make it back last night. he spent the night at one of his homie’s houses. i was able to get in his building by ringing all the buttons at midnight, then into his apartment. i slept in the living room thinking of all the things going on currently, and how they have to amount to something. i just don’t know what, but it was almost as if i was living alone in nyc for the night. a few things kept me up as i didn’t fall asleep until 3am. i woke up at 5:30am, got ready, boarded the bus, and came to work. i actually had a conversation with my uber drive today, too, which was interesting. he is malaysian and retired from the restaurant business 4 weeks ago. now he does uber for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. he says the money is about the same and that he can’t stay away from making money.

anyways, i’m existing on a couple hours of sleep, but i guess the more important part is at least i’m existing.
