nhk world japan, 11.29.17

there’s a channel my antenna picks up, nhk world japan, that i find myself watching all the time. japan has always been a place i’d love to visit, perhaps even live during my life. it’s like a dreamland over there. japanese food, japanese fashion, japanese technology; all of that is fascinating to me. last night they had a feature on how hotels and cities utilize parking decks to be as space-efficient as they can. there were elevators for cars, allowing to vertically stack vehicles for optimum space conservation. it’s hard to explain, but the only way to describe it was next-level. then today, they played a 30 minute show called samurai wheels where they went to the 2017 tokyo autoshow and previewed some concept cars from different automobile makers and went into what the future for mobility has in store for us. 

everything seems so cool over there, i gotta go in 2018.

fresh out the box, 6.2.17

i forgot how good nike’s fresh out the box was until i listened to it in the whip the other night on the way home from mr. k’s. 

i’ve only had two pairs of af1’s my whole life. my first pair was a pair of all-white mid’s my mom bought for me before 7th grade. i remember trying them on and dancing in front of my dad’s toshiba flatscreen in the family room with my white cargo’s on before he got home from work one day. they were so damn crispy, i had to be the freshest kid in middle school. that’s how they made me feel, and how i felt was my personal truth, so my thoughts had to be true. i was the freshest kid in middle school. had to be.

my 2nd pair, i got in 8th grade right before a field trip. i used to talk to my best friend almost every night on the phone and one night we got to talking about getting new shoes before the field trip. the more we talked about it, the more it became an actual possibility. i forgot what he got, but i got my 2nd pair of af1’s. they were mid’s (of course) and they were grey with a red nike check. they were new off ebay, and in the description the guy said he bought them from finishline but never wore them. the grey was a very thick, waterproof-like material. i never knew if they were real or not because i never saw another pair like them after countless internet searches, but i knew i loved them.

with all this reminiscing, it’s got me thinking i might turn the clocks back and turn the world into middle school again.

drake performed on a floating stage in front of the bellagio fountain in vegas with waving streams of water and fireworks matching to the ad-libs in the background. gotta be the best performance i’ve ever seen of a song hands down. he really is the greatest.

i’m inspired.

personal instagram growth, 3.20.17

last night i deleted my personal instagram. i had been thinking about doing this for a couple of years, but i somehow convinced myself i needed to hold on to all the memories compiled from all the people i used to know on there. it was about 2 or 3 in the morning when i made the decision. i’m doing this new thing where i’m practicing letting go. i’ve never done this before, but i’m getting used to it, which means i was unfamiliar with it in the first place, which would mean i’m outside of my comfort zone, which would then finally infer that i’m growing?

i hope so.

raining clarity, 2.21.17

i’ve been working on my memory lately. i’m naturally a long-term memory guy by default. these exercises have been helping with my short-term memory, so not only am i remembering things that recently happened, but i’m remembering details of things that happened two years before, even three years before. i’m no longer clouded by nostalgia in certain situations involving certain people and it feels good, you know? i can’t be focused on the wrong things. i cant be tricking myself into closure without clarity.

it’s been a long, long time, but seeing you today seemed to be what i needed. you’re perfect, besides the fact you’re older and our timing will always be off due to things out of our control, but even then, you’re still perfect. you have to trust me on this, ha. intelligent, funny, comforting, i could go on and on and on, but for now i’ll just sit here fantasizing of what could be in another lifetime as i appreciate our times together here in this one.
