dragonball z back, 11.2.17

i began watching resurrection f and forgot how good dbz is. haven’t watched it since i was a kid. you ever watch something and then don’t revisit it for years to the point where you’ve forgotten most if not all of what happens? i’m looking forward to running through the whole series for the second time. it’ll be like i’m 8 again and these episodes are premiering on cartoon network toonami after school.

autumn showers, 10.23.17

it poured pretty hard today. zack came into work soaked from walking from the parking deck. i was sad i wasn’t at home laying in bed with bagel relaxing to the sound of rain hitting the roof. i can’t explain it, but i love the rain. i hate lightning, but love storms. it’s something relaxing about the expression of clouds in a turmoil. some people like it, some people don’t. i love it.

moms, 10.11.17

my mom sent me coupons today though the mail for dog treats and laundry detergent. that was so cute and it was the best part of my day. i swear, nobody will love you like your mother.

crowd in the background: i know that’s right.

unconditional.

2-2, 8.8.17

i went hooping at fitness connection with stephan today. it’s been over a year since i’ve hooped on indoor goals, but it felt nice to get back into the swing of things. of course, of course, of course there was a hero on the court tonight. a hero refers to someone who takes all the shots, has the ball in their hands most of the time, and doesn’t do anything else. still though, it was fun. a few guys came up to me and asked about my sneakers, which were the lebron xiii linens. its such a good shoe to ball in, but still not better than the xx9. i’m writing more, getting back to basketball, and getting back to being a fan of things. for some reason, i feel like my life is headed in the direction i’ve been wanting it to for so long, albeit slowly.

finally.

no more sweet tea, 7.5.17

while i was in town, i had to stop by andy’s. they call it hwy 55 now, which is ironic because it’s off of highway 55. after ordering and washing my hands, i couldn’t believe the last time i sat in this restaurant was 6 years ago. i looked at the cooks and they just looked like they were high schoolers. it felt like yesterday i was in their shoes ready to experience life beyond high school. seems like the past few years i would’ve gave anything to go back to those times, but as i sat struggling to finish my andy’s cheeseburger, i thought of how ready i am to embrace life at the moment and onward toward the future. some things will never be the same despite how bad you want them to be, and perhaps that’s good for me.

i guess that’s life. i guess they call that growth. i guess things really are changing.

fresh out the box, 6.2.17

i forgot how good nike’s fresh out the box was until i listened to it in the whip the other night on the way home from mr. k’s.

i’ve only had two pairs of af1’s my whole life. my first pair was a pair of all-white mid’s my mom bought for me before 7th grade. i remember trying them on and dancing in front of my dad’s toshiba flatscreen in the family room with my white cargo’s on before he got home from work one day. they were so damn crispy, i had to be the freshest kid in middle school. that’s how they made me feel, and how i felt was my personal truth, so my thoughts had to be true. i was the freshest kid in middle school. had to be.

my 2nd pair, i got in 8th grade right before a field trip. i used to talk to my best friend almost every night on the phone and one night we got to talking about getting new shoes before the field trip. the more we talked about it, the more it became an actual possibility. i forgot what he got, but i got my 2nd pair of af1’s. they were mid’s (of course) and they were grey with a red nike check. they were new off ebay, and in the description the guy said he bought them from finishline but never wore them. the grey was a very thick, waterproof-like material. i never knew if they were real or not because i never saw another pair like them after countless internet searches, but i knew i loved them.

with all this reminiscing, it’s got me thinking i might turn the clocks back and turn the world into middle school again.

(edit: i’ve found two pairs on ebay, they are from 2003)
