2012 grails, 3.25.22

the lebron ix big bangs came in today. they’re bright af, i love it. after all these years, 10 to be exact, i finally have a pair. you know, disney and nike have a lock on nostalgia. that’s why they’re able to sell much of the same pairs for generations on generations. i might wear them out tonight, but i’m thinking i’ll wear the playoff xii’s and save the galaxies for an outing next week. now that i’ve been buying a few pairs here and there, i’m thinking i gotta get rid of a some. i have way too many pairs of shoes lying around. i was cleaning my sneaker room today (aka the studio) and i counted 84 pairs. i definitely don’t wear all of them, especially because i wear dress shoes to work, so i can for sure get rid of a few pairs.

the hard part is deciding which pairs because i know i’ll convince myself i need more than what i’m willing to give up.

100%, 3.24.22

i’m in the 100th percentile for espn’s bracket challenge, but that’s about to change because zona is about to drop. alex texted me and said i’m 4800th something out of 17 million people in america. i’m relishing in the moment right now lmaooo. it’s all good though because duke won and we’re onto the elite 8 on saturday.

looking forward to taking care of real business instead of these wins for my ego.

march madness weekend 2, 3.23.22

today is like a thursday to me because duke plays tomorrow in the sweet sixteen. they play texas tech, which will be a tough task to check off. march madness is like christmas to me. it’s the single greatest sporting event ever. you have upsets, buzzer-beaters, cinderellas, tears of joy, tears of sadness, literally everything. in the bracket challenge alex set up, i’m doing pretty good. i’m in first place for our group and i’m in the 99.4% percentile in the country. this second weekend will bust many more brackets, and i’m hoping if indeed mine does get busted, at least duke will make it out alive.

duke nation, time to get it!!!

the missing recycling bin, 3.22.22

i came home to the trash can on it’s side with the lid open, most likely due to wind. however, the recycling bin was gone. thinking i’d find it a few feet away from the trash, i wasn’t worried. when i got out to walk bagel, it was nowhere to be found. thinking it had to be somewhere near i kept my eye out. just two houses down, i saw our recycling bin tucked away next to our neighbors trash they brought in. i knew it was our recycling bin because ours is broke, so it’s taped in a unique way. after doing 1.3 miles with bagel, i went over to the neighbor’s house. i rang the doorbell and asked if i could pick up my recycling bin that was in their yard. he was cool about it and said he appreciated me asking. i walked back home with the bin just looking at it. in there, there was a can of apricots mom had opened a few days ago.

this was like asking the friend who is using your charger for your charger back, it shouldn’t be a problem, but it is lol.

bonies inflation, 3.21.22

i try to order treats for bagel in bulk. with his bonies running out, i went to chewy to order more. to my suprise, it was $9.50 per 5 pack….$9.50!! the same 5-pack used to be around $4.99!! i’m like damn inflation doing numbers (literally). i bought some over the fall at the old price. being that bagel is my son, i ordered his packs like usual. he doesn’t understand taxes or currency or inflation, but he understands love and that’s all that matters.
but for my understanding??

talk about sticker shock…

going to the coast, 3.19.22

under dbaze’s tutelage, i went to fleet feet to get fitted for some running shoes. the guy who helped me out was dan. he brought out different brands/types of running sneakers and had me walk with them to assess my gait. afterwards, he fitted me and had me make the decision of what sneaker i wanted to purchase based off the criteria at hand. i went with a pair of hoka’s. i’ve seen people wear them before, but i never knew why. after thanking dan, i went to the adjacent marshall’s to get new pillows. seeing how close i was to the coast, i decided to drive there. it was mad foggy out, but i got out and walked along the shore. it was so peaceful. not many people were out, so that was nice. although it was drizzling, a few people brought their dogs on the beach despite signs saying no dogs allowed. you know, in 9 years of living, bagel has not set foot on a sanded beach. last summer, we walked along the beach walkway, but technically that isn’t the beach. i’m thinking of bringing him next weekend. it’s got to be when it’s not crowded, because he’s a maniac around company lmaooo.

i ended my trip by going to a chicken place i kept seeing all over facebook. it was called yas chicken. i couldn’t find anywhere to park, so i parked on the road. i ordered my food, then walked to the convenience store across the skreet, bought two powerades, and ate in my car listening to a crime junkie episode about two murders in massachusetts that could be linked.

not a bad saturday at all.

running to commitment, 3.18.22

last summer, i tried eating salad for lunch for a month straight. it honestly made me feel good. i didn’t notice it until i went out to eat for lunch with a few coworkers and felt tired after. i think this year, i’m going to try running a mile a day for a month. i wanna see how it goes and where it takes me. last night after walking bagel one mile, i ran a mile in my fastest time maybe ever? it was 9:38. last summer my quickest mile was 9:59. i ran here and there, but i wasn’t steadfast with it. i wanted running to be routine, but i didn’t commit. committing has to be top 3 biggest issues i have within myself. i get inspired, then once it wears itself out, the motivation leaves, too.

let’s see if it changes this year.

2012 gems, 3.17.22

i’m not into sneakers much anymore, but i still keep up. i know, it doesn’t make much sense, but i always have an ear to the skreets just in case something drops that i like. i gave up collecting around 2013, so i haven’t really bought sneakers frequently since then. plus, these days i’m in dress shoes majority of the time so i wouldn’t even wear any sneakers if i did buy them. the year before i stopped collecting, there were two pairs that eluded me. it was the air jordan playoff 12’s and the lebron 9 big bangs. those two sneakers just so happened to release in the past month. i wasn’t able to get them at retail, but last night i put a bid in for both on stockx and goat. late last night, someone accepted my bid on stockx for the air jordan 12. this morning, someone accepted my bid on goat for the lebron 9. i’m excited for them to come in! these days i’m reaching back and getting things i never had the chance to at the time. although it does feel good, it makes me wonder what i’m missing right now.

perhaps i’m missing out, and if that should be the case, these things don’t make me feel as good as i thought them out to be in the first place.

peanut butter crackers and oj, 3.16.22

i went to get my blood drawn for my annual this morning. i almost passed out. i’m so bad with needles and blood. it’s like a double whammy. the nurses were so, sooooo nice. they brought me peanut butter crackers and a cup of oj. they were also talking to me about a lady who fooled everyone for a billion dollars or something. she made this machine that only took one drop of blood to do many blood tests. the documentary is on netflix, and i have to find it because it sounds super interesting. the nurse joked that only men are scared of needles, and i agree lmaooo. the lady at the summit said the same thing about men being scared of heights a few days ago, too. i also agree lol. i’m hanging out in my car right now under my heated blanket.

i think i’ll hang here for a few more minutes to get my bearings straight before i hit 93 south towards the city.
