daylight savings time, 3.15.22

they passed a bill in the senate today about abolishing daylight savings time. it makes the most sense logically as the day of, there are more heart attacks, more accidents, etc, etc. everyone on social media seems to be on board with it. i think i’m in the minority when i say i like daylight savings time. something about the night coming quicker in the fall and winter is so nostalgic. it gives me a good feeling that i’m in my favorite part of the year with colorful leaves, halloween decorations, and the state fair among many other things.

is my nostalgia towards daylight savings worth all the hassle it causes society?

not at all, but i deserve to be selfish somtimes, right?

hostility on my mind, 3.14.22

i’d consider myself to be in a fairly peaceful place in life right now, but my subconscious seems to think different. these past couple nights, i’ve had two dreams that ended in physical altercations. i can’t remember the one last night as the details are fuzzy, but i remember waking up thinking ‘damn why did i have to do that?’ i came home a bit early from work today. as soon as i laid in bed, bagel joined and we napped. when i got up, i recollected the dream i had. i was on the basketball court hooping. this older guy came up to me and said something. i don’t know what he said, but i punched him so hard in the jaw. they say you can’t punch in your dreams, but that one went off. i felt so bad in the dream that i left immediately. afterwards, i ran to another court to hoop. then i woke up.

now i’m writing about it, thinking about things i may have compartmentalized that i have yet to unpack.

at the base, 3.13.22

back to boston today. i felt bad for the lady i sat next to on the bus because i could tell i was snoring smh. the bus driver got us back in a little over 3 hours. he did his thing, and he was funny as hell. before we left, the first thing he said on the intercom was “does anyone know how to get to boston?” lmaoo. dad picked me up with uncle dave to my surprise. i filled them in on the trip as we drove home. at home i saw mom, aunt yiren, ta, and bagel. i was so happy to see bagel. we went on a walk, then i fed him. i ate curry while talking to aunt yiren and uncle dave about carhartt and the 9/11 museum.

it felt good to be back home, yet i’m still eager to get back out there.

living life the right way, 3.12.22

obeezy and i got up today. it was snowing/sleeting, so i needed a jacket. we both met up at the warehouse and copped jackets. then we ate at chelsea market, which is a really dope spot with a bunch of different shops and eateries. i missed my dog man, it’s been 4 years since we linked. we went to the summit. before we went to the top, i asked shorty how scary the outdoor elevator was. she said i’d be aight, but when i got up there, i could’ve sworn the ground was shaking. when we got back down, she found me as i was walking out and asked if i did the ascend. i told her nah it was too scary lmaooo. to finish the night, i went to the acc championship game. i was sure duke was about to run virginia tech out the gym, but number 0 on vt was on fire. duke ended up losing. i did everything right to prepare for the game. i wore my favorite jersey, i listened to music when we were down, and i bought a souvenir soda. these are the rituals i participate in as i’ve noticed when i do these things, my team wins. not tonight though. it didn’t go as planned, but still the experience was everything and more. i’m grateful for every dollar spent and every moment experienced leading up to this point.

i can’t help but think i’m living life the right way these days.

before i forget, happy 5 year anniversary to the running diary. that’s 5 years of every day updates. half a decade! Vicky, what’s poppin!! still miss and love you!! i wouldn’t have began this journey if it wasn’t for you. dono what’s hood brodie, i love you man. i hope you two are still keeping up with me.

sitting in the back, 3.11.22

after dropping by the ovo warehouse, i was hungry so i walked to chinatown. i had to pee really bad, so i went into the nearest restaurant that looked good. when i walked in, i got a table for one. the chinese man brought me to the furthest table at the back of the restaurant, right in front of the restrooms. it couldn’t have been more perfect. i used the restroom, ordered food, and ate while listening to music. the place seemed like it hadn’t been redecorated since the late 90’s/early 00’s. i loved it. it’s like traveling back in time. shit, depending on how long it’s been here, i could’ve ate at this spot as a kid. whenever we came to nyc, we always came to chinatown and times square. 20 years later, it’s still the same as all i’m doing today is staying in chinatown and manhattan lol.

i guess some things never change.

the city, 3.10.22

i took a bus to nyc this morning. when i got off, it felt like i had too much freedom. it was almost overwhelming. suddenly, i’m in a big city with so many people, and it’s just me. i love being alone and i love traveling, so go figure how this trip is going to go. it was almost ruined, well not ruined, but it was almost tainted as duke let syracuse go the distance with them until the last 3 minutes. i have tickets to the championship game on saturday, but i lowkey might check duke out tomorrow night. i think i’ll do some shopping today (ovo has a warehouse sale) and i’ll definitely eat good. it’s been 4 years since i’ve been here. 2018 feels like yesterday, but so will 2022 at some point.

i gotta enjoy the moment, and for the moment, i’m in the greatest city in the world.

doctor's appointments, 3.9.22

bagel went to the vet today and his red blood cell count came back normal. that is a big, big relief. after i got the news, i had to go to the doctor’s office myself. my mom scheduled this appointment with this specific doctor when i moved to massachusetts over a year ago. he’s the same doctor my parents see and he’s really good. he’s patient, kind, and understanding. i have to do bloodwork next wednesday, which i’m not looking forward to. but what i am looking forward to is coming home to bagel tonight, and because his rbc count came back normal, going to nyc this weekend.

though we’re not completely in the clear yet, things are looking up.

bagel feeling better, 3.8.22

last night after i fed bagel a can of wet food mixed with his regular kibble, he seemed to feel better. it’s a good sign he’s growing his appetite back. this morning, i took him out to pee. his pee was yellow, a darker yellow, but still yellow nonetheless. i blame it on the canned food i gave him last night, but his pee has been that color before so i’m not too worried. when he came back in, he started yapping at me. i took him out again and he sniffed around. we haven’t been on a walk in almost 2 days, so he’s getting antsy. these are all good signs. the blood tests on wednesday and friday will really put my worries at ease, but for now, they seem to be slowly lifting.

i can’t wait to get back home to him tonight.

monitoring bagel, 3.7.22

i opted to work from home today to monitor bagel. he hasn’t eaten in almost 36 hours. my mom had the idea of feeding him a can of wet food to get his energy up. i will pick some up in the next hour. i am monitoring him for the following signs:

- orange/red/brownish urine

- pale gums

- lethargy

- fainting

dogs who have onion poisoning will develop anemia over the course of a week or so which can be fatal. they will begin experiencing those above symptoms. they say it takes about 0.5% of a dog’s weight consumed in onions for it to be fatal. half a percent. i’m really worried, but we caught it and got bagel help within a few hours. he’s a warrior, so my faith lies within him. i will keep closely monitoring him until he feels better.

many prayers appreciated.

the three onions, 3.6.22

dad took ta, mom, and me out to eat tonight. we went to a dumpling place in danvers. it was a small hole-in-the-wall joint located within an old strip mall. after we ordered, i went to a card/game shop a few doors down. i checked them out, and the owner said they moved to this location in january, but the store had been open for 11 years. there were people playing magic the gathering, warhammer, etc. chan would love a place like that, it reminds me of the gamer’s armory in cary, the one andrew (chan’s roommate) works at. after a delicious dinner, we get back and bagel took onion paste off the counter and ate it.

we end up going to the emergency vet, where they made bagel throw up. i called poison control, and they recommended blood work for bagel along with a visit to the vet on wednesday/friday. when they brought him out, he had a lot of energy, like he was ready to get out of there. his face had black on the sides as they fed him charcoal to absorb any toxins the onions let out. i feel so bad for him, but i’m hoping and praying he will be okay and back to normal by the end of the week. i have a decision to make in regards to going to nyc this weekend, but that is dependent on his blood panel wednesday.

we just got back home and he drank a whole bowl of water. the charcoal would make him thirsty as the vet mentioned, and sure enough it did, though i’m hoping the charcoal will do more than that.
