tiktok bans, 1.18.25

they banned tiktok a few hours early smhhhh. we’re cooked, smh. i wish i would’ve downloaded it earlier and by earlier, i mean in 2019. i don’t think it’s gone, but i’ll definitely have trouble falling asleep tonight without it as backwards as it sounds.

sweetgreen addictions, 1.17.25

crispy rice bowl (no crispy rice, cabbage, or nuts) with avocado, double chicken, and medium balsamic viniagrette.

i think i’m addicted to sweetgreens as this is the third time i’ve been here this week.

gsk apparel, 1.16.25

one of the benefits of biotech is they giveaway company-branded items once or twice a year. today, i picked up a few shirts and jackets for my dad and i. the jackets aren’t really jackets as they’re thin, but they are like basketball warm-ups is the best way i can describe it to you. we also got a comfort colors long sleeve shirt, which is nice. they told us to order one jacket and one shirt for a total of two items, but i thought it meant two shirts and a jacket so i ended up getting one more long sleeve which is fire. most, if not, all the other shirts gsk and affinivax have given me i’ve used as gym shirts, but these comfort color ones are a lot nicer. i tend to complain about my career, but today i can say i have no complaints.

but if i had to, i could easily come up with one.

or two.

or a few.

sonny boy, 1.15.25

al pacino’s memoir, sonny boy, is an amazing read so far. i get so inspired reading about other people’s lives that i forget about the mundane nature of mine. i think of what i want most from life and it almost feels real when i’m reminded of the possibilities. al said some people (after his success) would talk about how they never made it, yet he did, and he told them they only wanted to make it, but he had to. i’ll have to adopt that mindset, but it is a fight in itself when you’ve been comfortable for so long. i’ll have to utilize courage as a weapon to wage a war on the idea of comfort because right now it’s been an uphill battle for too long, but i know the view at the top will be worth every ounce of self-doubt, fear, and discouragement i’ll feel along the way.

december 2023, 1.14.25

a year ago, i dropped december 2023. the energy was so different back then. i’m in a much better place this year and all i can do is thank God and be grateful. that song is such an important part of this journey i’ve long been afraid to embark on. though i’m insecure about my music, i can imagine if i didn’t release december 2023, the year would’ve gone by regardless. and quick at that. these years tend to slip right by us. before you know it, you’re in your 30’s wondering what you did with your 20’s. i can’t live like that anymore. i hope i’m not, but i don’t think i am.

december 2023 is a testament to that.

biological thumbs, 1.13.25

i injured my thumb pretty badly during yesterday’s game. not only is it swollen, but my palm below it is swollen as well. it was jammed pretty bad. i haven’t been able to grip much or use it so i’ve been having to resort to my left hand for the time being. it made me think of how thankful i am for thumbs. what an amazing evolutionary feature that took countless generations. how would we survive without being able to use grip? i mean, there would be a way, but it would be exponentially more difficult without thumbs. then again, if we didn’t have thumbs, we wouldn’t miss them.

ignorance truly is bliss, but since i’m aware, i’m thankful.

weekend of l’s, 1.12.25

after the chargers lost yesterday, we lost our game today in the league. some of it was rust, but i think a lot has to deal with team chemistry. all it takes is one person to go rogue and it fucks with everybody else. it’s sad because if we won this week and next week, we’d be in the playoffs easily. as it stands now, we’re on the outside looking in so we’ll need some help if we want to see the post season.

the kitchen faucet, 1.11.25

my dad and i were able to disconnect the bolt behind the kitchen sink that allowed us to undue the faucet. we replaced it and the new one didn’t work. we were stumped, but we spent hours trying to ‘fix’ the new faucet as the water was running through the hoses. i think it’s defective, but we’ll have to look into it tomorrow. doing things around the house is the quickest way to feel productive. i don’t know if it’s me watching king of the hill or if it’s me growing up, but i kind of like it. it’s satisfying afterwards, but for this specific task, the job’s not done.

or whatever kobe said.

white mornings, 1.11.25

one of the best feelings (and one of the greatest perks of living in new england) is waking up to snow unexpectedly. usually when there’s snow forecasted, i’ll hear about it days in advance, which is why i was caught off guard when i woke up this morning and lifted the blinds. i’m not complaining though because bagel loves the snow and the chargers play the texans today at 4:30pm, which is the perfect snow day.

time to get cozy.

visiting van gogh, 1.10.25

we went to an immersive van gogh experience tonight then ate thai afterwards. it was smaller than expected, but i loved reading about van gogh. he was only 37 before he killed himself by a self-inflicted gunwound to the chest. his work is unique and i enjoyed learning about who he was as a person behind his famous artworks. i’m about to tell you some interesting things i learned about van gogh. did you know his sisters didn’t really fw the vision?? that was crazy to me. he also loved his younger brother, theo, and would confide in him most occasions. they wrote letters back and forth to each other which would offer the world insight into van gogh on a personal level. his most expensive painting sold for 83.5 million dollars on the aftermarket. this is just a glimpse into his “lore” as the kids would say these days.

after sitting in the immersive experience and talking for 20 minutes, i left the exhibit more curious of van gogh than i’ve ever been.
