2nd floor cafe views, 1.9.25

i went to the 2nd floor cafe and looked out the window at the amgen building past moderna. there was a girl running as leftover snow laid on ground that wasn’t walkways or roads. something about this visual was so relaxing to me that i stared out the window for a minute or two. cambridge in the year of 2025…

some day i’ll miss this view, but for now i’m dreaming of greener pasteurs.

national geographic learning, 1.7.25

getting a national geographic subscription has to be the best decision i’ve made in a long time. did you know there’s a rattlesnake convention that takes place in sweetwater, texas? they literally grab rattle snakes, cut their heads off, and let you skin them for $20 under the guise of “education.” it’s so fucked up, but the article opened my eyes up to the beauty of rattlesnakes. i’ve never felt any type of way here nor there, but rattlesnakes are amazing animals. some have biofluorescent properties, which is so neat to me. another thing i learned from my recent read of national geographic was that the notre dame cathedral that almost burned down in 2019 has reopened last month. construction for the cathedral was started in the 12th century, which is over 800 years ago. how incredible is that? i wonder how they even built it, like how did it survive all these years without modern technology. the height of the nave is 115 feet, so that’s like 10/11 stories. it’s simply incredible. again much like rattlesnakes, i’ve known about notre dame, but i’ve never dug deep into the marvel of it that is. to be honest, the eiffel tower does nothing for me now that i’ve learned of notre dame. they even have jesus’ crown of thorns on display, like how???

december 2024 publication was great.

i can’t wait until they mail me the next issue.

new year at work, 1.6.25

today, was my first day back at work. i arrived in the morning to hella emails and hella teams messages. outside of that, it was a great day at work. i saw my guy rob and was too excited. we hugged each other and asked how our break was. i skipped lunch and went to the gym with schuni. though we saw each other last friday, we still caught up on his nyc trip amongst other things. after lunch, i checked more emails and realized i had one from a coworker who had their last day before the break! the email was so kind-hearted. it caught me off guard, but i’ll miss working with them. i ended the day hanging with sujeet in the cafe. he went to india over the break and got married. i saw pictures of the wedding and it made me so happy for the both of them. life is a beautiful thing, more so when you have love in it. i know i spend a lot of time talking about my disdain for my job, but many people there have become like family to me. it balances things out because i know some of these relationships will last longer than my tenure there will, so i’m trying to be more positive about my experience working in biotech before the music and the writing takes off. it’s got me thinking if it’s possible to miss what you had when you get what you want.

i guess we’ll find out when it’s time to cross that bridge.

the race, 1.6.25

i should be in a peaceful slumber right now, but i cannot for the life of me fall asleep. i’m scrolling on tiktok and came across a slideshow that said “songs to melt yo speakers.” i scrolled left and it was the race by wiz khalifa. the race by wiz khalifa brings me back to such a joyous time in my life, my senior year of high school in apex, north carolina. i hadn’t heard that song in years. the race is one of my all-time favorite songs, probably top 5 of all-time. i was scrolling through the comments and someone said “funny how a song can transport you back to a certain moment and time in your life.” i started tearing up because man, if it’s two things guaranteed about this life we live it’s that it goes by quick and that it’s never have enough time. i don’t miss who i was back then as much as i miss the way things were. it really is an honest observation of self-reflection to say i’ve gotten more emotional as i’ve gotten older.

i don’t mind it one bit as i think it brings me closer to God and the people i love.

meeting einstein, 1.5.25

my cousin and her husband over from washington dc. they are staying until thursday and they brought their dog, einstein. einstein is an 8 year old jack russel terrier mix. he’s gorgeous. bagel and him didn’t get along for the first hour initially, but after a while, they calmed down. i wouldn’t say they like each other just yet, but they are tolerating each other lol. i think it’s good for bagel to have another dog in the house, because he hasn’t had any dog company since we moved from charlotte at the end of 2020.

let’s see how the rest of this week goes.

studio woes, 1.4.25

just left the studio and it’s 4:07am. i’m not even tired, but i am a bit frustrated in how the songs are coming along. i don’t know what it is, whether it’s insecurity or whether they’re simply bad, but nothing is coming out how i envisioned it in my head. i guess this is a part of the process, but it is as frustrating as it is discouraging. the only way is through and God-willing we’ll live another day to try again tomorrow.

time to put king of the hill on as i try to sleep.

friday scaries, 1.3.25

more or less, i’ve had the last month off as my last day at work was friday december 6th. this is the last weekend before i head back to work and i’m already not looking forward to it. although i do feel refreshed, that feeling is fleeting and will quickly diminish as i return to the office next week.

looks like the sunday scaries came two days early, smh.

familiar faces from planet fitness, 1.2.25

when i used to go to planet fitness in wilmington, there was a guy who worked out there often. i’d see him whenever i’d go, at least 4 or 5 times a week. not that we had problems with each other, but we never said anything to one another. ever since i left planet fitness, i’ve seen him out 3 times, including tonight. i saw him at a grocery store, then in the food court of burlington mall last month while i was christmas shopping, and then tonight at target. everytime i spoke to him just to say what’s up. as i’m walking towards the self-check out late i look up and he’s bagging his items to leave but we catch eye contact. he wishes me a happy holidays as i asked him how his holidays were. he said his was good and i responded identically. we wished each other happy new years as he was walking out the door. i think the biggest takeaway is how ironic it is that familiar faces in a familiar places usually leads to nothing, but familiar faces in not so familiar places usually gravitate towards each other. does that make sense? i know it can be said better but it’s not coming to me right now. as i writer, i’ should work on that and come back with something more poetic.

stay tuned.

the college jeans, 1.1.25

i am doing some spring cleaning and am thinking of having a moving sale. there’s so many little figures, trinkets, and clothes that i no longer use. i gotta find time to put them on mercari soon. as i’m cleaning things out, i came across my favorite pair of jeans from the beginning of college. they’re dark with a sepia/turquoise tint to them. i wore them so much they ripped in two spots. i’ve brought them along everywhere i’ve moved with the intention of getting an alteration’s specialist to sew them back to new but never got the time to it. well, i’ve had plenty of time over the years, but i’ve never prioritized doing so. i put them on one last time and though i still loved them, i think it’s time to move on as i have jeans with better/strong material. when i reached into the pockets, i pulled out a mcdonald’s receipt from 2015. what was strange was the mcdonald’s was in greensboro, but i’ve rarely found myself there. i was either at money’s house visiting his family with him or i was with..well yea. what surprised me most was my order is pretty much the same. it was a 10-piece mcnugget meal with sweet tea as my drink and two sweet & sour sauces along with a mcdouble. the mcdouble was only $1.29. as they say on the internet, we used to be a proper country, smh. anyways, i’m going on and on at this point but i wanted to wish a happy birthday to my dad and a happy new years to everyone else!

i hope your wildest dreams come true should you find the courage to chase them.
