familiar faces from planet fitness, 1.2.25

when i used to go to planet fitness in wilmington, there was a guy who worked out there often. i’d see him whenever i’d go, at least 4 or 5 times a week. not that we had problems with each other, but we never said anything to one another. ever since i left planet fitness, i’ve seen him out 3 times, including tonight. i saw him at a grocery store, then in the food court of burlington mall last month while i was christmas shopping, and then tonight at target. everytime i spoke to him just to say what’s up. as i’m walking towards the self-check out late i look up and he’s bagging his items to leave but we catch eye contact. he wishes me a happy holidays as i asked him how his holidays were. he said his was good and i responded identically. we wished each other happy new years as he was walking out the door. i think the biggest takeaway is how ironic it is that familiar faces in a familiar places usually leads to nothing, but familiar faces in not so familiar places usually gravitate towards each other. does that make sense? i know it can be said better but it’s not coming to me right now. as i writer, i’ should work on that and come back with something more poetic.

stay tuned.
