visiting van gogh, 1.10.25
we went to an immersive van gogh experience tonight then ate thai afterwards. it was smaller than expected, but i loved reading about van gogh. he was only 37 before he killed himself by a self-inflicted gunwound to the chest. his work is unique and i enjoyed learning about who he was as a person behind his famous artworks. i’m about to tell you some interesting things i learned about van gogh. did you know his sisters didn’t really fw the vision?? that was crazy to me. he also loved his younger brother, theo, and would confide in him most occasions. they wrote letters back and forth to each other which would offer the world insight into van gogh on a personal level. his most expensive painting sold for 83.5 million dollars on the aftermarket. this is just a glimpse into his “lore” as the kids would say these days.
after sitting in the immersive experience and talking for 20 minutes, i left the exhibit more curious of van gogh than i’ve ever been.
