sushi eater, 4.24.22

dad took us out to lunch for my birthday. we went to some place in woburn with all you can eat sushi/teriyaki. to my surprise, i ate mostly sushi. there was a roll by the name of white angel (i think) and it was really good. it had some type of mayo and tempura skrimp. one of the best i’ve had thus far. sushi has been growing on me this past year which is something i never would’ve imagined.

makes me want to take a trip back to charlotte and explore more than the little mermaid at ishi.

khmer new years, 4.23.22

yesterday we celebrated earthday, today we celebrated khmer new years even though new years was like a week ago lmao. we went over my cousins house. they were doing a pig roast along with a cookout. i saw my nephews, my uncles, my aunts, my cousins, and hella people i didn’t recognize. at one point, bowser (a 2 year old english bulldog mix) injured his nails playing with a ball. he was jumping up and down on the concrete with the ball and he broke a few nails. the thing about exposed quicks is they don’t stop bleeding. we tried finding corn starch, but that didn’t work. then i remembered a year ago how i bought a first aid kit for my car. i retrieved it and we put some powder on bowser’s front paw. then my cousin and i wrapped it with gauze. it stayed for the most part, and i’m hoping it stopped the bleeding. i didn’t stay for the aftermath as i had to leave with ta to go to bagel hoping he didn’t get into any trouble back at the crib.

we just got here and the coast seems to be clear, so a late-night walk it is to end the night.

earth day '22, 4.22.22

i woke up and told bagel thank you!!! today i will celebrate the 22nd day of the 4th month of the 2022nd year. i took the day off from work, went to mandarin, and ate mongolian beef for lunch. i don’t have much planned, but sometimes that’s the best plan. i’m thankful for too much, but most of all for life.

porsches to audis, 4.21.22

last year i wanted a porsche 911, this year i want an audi rs5 sportback. i still want the porsche, but that’d be a nice weekend car. i want a daily driver, and the audi rs5 sportback looks perfect for it. just enough space in the cabin, and enough space in the trunk. i really like it, and maybe by the end of the year i’ll cop one in cash.

i’m trying to avoid impulse purchases, but idk, i want one.

i wore the big bangs to workout today. when i’m finished and walking towards the east side of the building, one of the security officers, an older white man with a greying beard, is talking to a facilities worker. he sees me, stops me, then says ‘do you mind turning those off sir?’ lmaooooooo. i’ve never spoken to him before, but i love that type of energy. i joked with him and the facility worker i only had them on because i didn’t want to get hit by anyone coming off the freight elevator, which they were standing in front of.

i typically don’t like to bring attention to myself, but wearing those shoes was a nice ice-breaker for an amusing interaction with a couple of strangers.

whenever we have a monday off, the work-week is objectively shorter, but i’ve noticed that it feels longer because we have to do 5 days worth of work in 4 days. so here’s to a long-short week, smh.

had to pay my taxes today, both federal and state. between the both, i owed around $3k. maaaaaan fuck that lol. government already take enough taxes from me throughout the year, then they take this at the end?? smhhhh. also, they tax the money when i make it, then tax it again when i spend it. isn’t that insane??!

whoever said taxation is theft was completely right.

easter celebrations, 4.17.22

today marks two things. 1) it’s easter, so it’s the end of lent, which means i can eat candy again. 2) it’s been a month since i’ve set out to run a mile a day for a month. for the candy challenge, i slipped up early when i went to nyc. i ate a hershey’s bar in my hotel room, but besides that i’ve been good. i fell asleep early last night, then woke up, then stayed up, then finally fell asleep again. i’m feeling tired, so i’m pushing back my last mile until right before dinner. the month went by quick. lent did, too.

these challenges are subtle reminders of that, but they’re also reminders of the discipline i’m able to have, shall i choose to.

spring cleaning '22, 4.16.22

i’ve got two bags full of old clothes to donate. there’s some good stuff in there from staple, undefeated, johnny cupcakes, etc., basically all the stuff i wore in highschool/early college. hopefully somebody will find use of these clothes, because there’s still plenty of life left in them. i’ve had my time with these blessings, now it’s someone else’s turn. it feels a lot like letting go, and maybe that’s what it is because donating these clothes brings forth a sense of liberation, like a burden being lifted.
