when i got to the office this morning, my supervisor was putting chocolate and candies on everyone’s desk. she’s awesome, such a kind-hearted individual. after she finished, i looked inside at my desk and there were some really good chocolates. i was tempted to have a piece, but my discipline intervened.
it’s a shame i gave up candy for lent, but you bet i will be saving them for sunday.

for whatever reason, i didn’t have a kobe iv search saved on my ebay. last week, i decided to search and i came across a kobe iv prelude. that’s a top 3 kobe shoe for me, especially with the iv’s. my top kobe shoe is the kobe iv venom, which i regret passing up last year smh. that shoe is so difficult to find, but so is the kobe iv prelude. i put my bid in and they came in today. they’re fuegoooooooo. can’t believe i missed this drop in 2013, but then again i was 19/20 then and didn’t have enough bread. these days i’m just going back and copping things i never got to cop when i was younger. i’m still in the moment though cuz i have a few pairs of zion’s. i want a pair of giannis’, but i’m sure i’ll catch a pair on disco in the next few months.
until then, i’ll be rocking the prelude iv’s.

after hooping (which my team lost 3 in a row) dave drove me home. on the stoplight by the stop n shop on mystic, we were behind a truck. dave noticed the decal under the back window wasn’t centered. he said the guy must’ve threw back a few beers when putting it on and said it looked alright. that shit had me chuckling. i thought it was a transparent decal, but when the sun reflected, it was one whole decal all the way through. so either the manufacturer messed up, or he made it wrong??
either way it’s off-center, although it is a cool design.

i decided to take a rest day from the gym today. the thing is, i’m not even home yet and i’m tired as fuck. so i gotta run my mile at home, probably when it’ll be half-way towards night. i’ll get it done, but damn.

i was riding back from stop n shop. i had gotten carrots and ranch for a lunch snack this week. i’m thinking about you and how i wanted to call you up to see how you’ve been. then it always hits me that you’re no longer here with me. as i shuffle songs on my phone, keep my spirit alive comes on off donda. that was a song that got me through last october, especially when i drove from raleigh to fayetteville for your funeral. i thought that was you talking to me, or at least letting me know you were with me in that moment. i didn’t want to make too much of it, but when i got home i sat in my car and let the song play. i went on facebook and the third post down was your sister sharing a facebook memory of you posting about national siblings day 5 years ago. that’s when i knew you was there with me. i spent a few more moments in the car in silence before getting out. once i got out, i looked at the sky. i didn’t know what exactly i was looking for, but i knew you were out there somewhere.
thanks for coming through to get groceries with me tonight, it almost felt like all the times we would grocery shop at the neighborhood walmart together off north tryon.

we had 30-40 people over today for mom and ta’s birthday. it was a lot of familiar faces, and some not so familiar faces. whether i recognized them or not, the whole thing was a family affair. one thing i never knew i missed growing up was having family in close proximity. now that i have it, i’m more appreciative than ever. i spent the time saying hi to all the og’s, then i spent some time with my cousins. i ended the night showing my nephews things i had on display. they wanted to see my room and once we got up there, we just hung out there. i felt bad because one of my nephews asked if i had a double of a pokemon card, but i didn’t think i did so i told him no. another nephew ended up finding a double and asked me for it. i should’ve just given lil homie my card, because it definitley means more to him than to me now that i think about it. i think next time i see him, i’ll just bring the card with me.
hopefully it won’t be another year before we all get together again, because i think i definitely needed this.

long story short, i did a pm gym sesson again today. luckily, it’s a friday so nobody was down there. i had the whole gym to myself, which is lovely. afterwards, i stopped by the lego store and copped one of the last remaining 4 delorean sets they had. i have to record and write tonight, but in between sessions i’ll be building. i might even put it off until before bed, because that way i can build and laugh with girlfriends playing in the background.
my only issue is i have to find a place to display the finish product, but i guess that’s first world problems.

i left the house later this morning so i put off the gym until after work. when i went after work, it was kinda packed. i didn’t expect it to be so because it’s a work gym, but damn, shit was packed lmao. i got my workout in, more importantly my mile, and headed home. when i got home, it was around 6:50pm. i walked bagel a mile and some change, now i’m finna eat. it’s 7:44pm, which is kinda late because after my shower i’m not getting settled until 9:30pm or so.

in the cold, bagel and i tried to get at least a mile, which in our neighborhood is 3 rounds. today, we got 5 rounds after work. it was chilly, but it was definitely a lot warmer than a month ago. when we came back in, he ate all his diet food and took a nap. during his nap he was breathing heavy which leads me to believe he was a little more tired than usual after our longer walk. we used to do 3-4 miles a day back home, but we’re getting our wind back.

ta turns 90 today, so i wanted to surprise him. on the way home from chick-fil-a, i stopped at a convenience store to buy scratch-offs. he loves to gamble, play the lottery, and win on scratch offs. considering i never buy those, i got him a mix of tickets. 9 total to be exact. when i went to his room, he was confused as to why i gave him scratch-offs. i told him i went to the gas station so i bought them while i was there. my mom later told me he doesn’t know it’s his birthday, so that’s why he asked me. we sat in his room while he went through each ticket. ta passed me one when he was done scratching them off. one by one he didn’t win anything. we went 0-8, that is until the last ticket. feeling dejected, i inspected the last ticket not expecting much. to both of our surprises, he ended up winning $5 with a 20x bonus, which means he got a 100 piece off the last ticket!! tomorrow either mom or i will have to go claim his prize.
we both were excited, which has me thinking we should do this more often.
