i don’t know how the conversation started, but
there was a group of people on the sidewalk where i parked. at one point during
our conversation, i asked where they were from. one of the guys said they’re
from st. louis. i told him how i used to live there, well not in st. louis, but
in dardenne prairie, a suburb of st. louis. he laughed as told me he knows
where that is because he has been to their municipal court multiple times.
afterwards, i made my way to a hipster, streetfood, asian inspired restaurant. being cambodian, lemon grass is a staple ingredient in our cuisine. i saw lemon grass chicken on the menu and ordered it. the food was phenomenal. they had yellow curry glazed on jasmine rice topped with lemon grass flavored chicken. it was love at first bite.
later in the night, on the way to target and walmart to get a few things, i put on the radio and scanned. upon the first clear signal, i stopped the scan. the radio station was something out of the movies. the radio personality was rachel, or was it delilah, and she had a very calming voice. she would take calls and give very prophetic advice to those who were listening. i felt like i was in the 90’s again, and for some odd reason, i kept thinking of the truman show.
i could tell you where i am, but it wouldn’t make a difference because the places we travel are only as good as the places we make them out to be, and if you aren’t here right now, it’d be hard for you to make out why things are so wonderful.
