there’s a scene in the truman show where truman says he wants to go to fiji. it seems impulsive, but the reason being is that an actor portraying the dad of a woman he fell in love with in college claims she’s mentally crazy and to help her, they were sending her to fiji. truman has never been anywhere outside of the town he lives in, but the thought of something new and refreshing left him inspired.
much like truman, i’ve never really stepped out of my comfort zone and lately i’ve been feeling impulsive, too. i wonder if maybe a trip to fiji is on the horizon for me. as nice as that sounds, it’d be strange if everybody in my life was an actor, and free will didn’t exist because this script was already written in stone.
it makes me think of how liberating life is on the other side of fear and how hesitant i am to book my own flight. one day though. perhaps fiji is the only place where people aren’t tuned in to the ratha show.
