i was scheduled a double today at work, but they over-staffed the lunch shift. i came back home and my mom wanted to trim the bushes in the front yard.
we began trimming the bushes and she even chopped a few branches off one of our trees. the one with the clay face plastered on it by the mailbox. i told her to go inside and relax, and that her time in charlotte shouldn’t be filled with yard work, but she of course continued cleaning the yard. she likes doing these things, her and my father always garden and landscape. they’ve done that since i can remember. during the cutting of the bushes in the front yard, my neighbor across the street comes over and offers to help. he also tells us where to place the branches so they can pick them up on friday’s. he’s a very kind man. i always see him sitting on his porch smoking. if he’s not smoking, he’s landscaping and maintaining his lawn, but no matter what, he always waves to me.
an hour later, we were trimming the side bushes and my neighbor to the left of us walks up with a miniature chain saw telling us it’d be easier to cut the shrubs with that. his name is mr. derrick and he stays with hella whips in his drive way. he showed me how to operate the motored saw and it did make things easier. when i was finished, i returned the saw to a table on his front porch and went inside right before it began raining, thankful for such kind neighbors.
