i had my first wine presentation today. a customer ordered a bottle of terrazas malbec on the patio. i brought the bottle to them and admitted it was my first time doing a wine presentation. the husband gave me a tip to start at the top of the lip instead of the bottom when opening the foil. i eventually opened the bottle and poured their wine (credit to him). they were there with their two kids, and their kids were very polite. by the end of the night, i was told it was their son’s 7th birthday. i got him a complimentary sundae, and as i walked away, he was opening a blu-ray batman lego movie. the look on his face was priceless. kids are so beautiful, you’ve got to believe me when i tell you this. he enjoyed his sundae and they left around 20 minutes later.
as i continued to wait on tables, i kept thinking of how i could learn a thing or two from him.
