i’m not a fan of black friday shopping when it comes down to camping out and looking for doorbusters, but i like to walk around the malls in the early mornings of the day after. i do this for two reasons, to see if i can stumble upon a gem, and to attempt to observe life at the moment. i know christmas is a commercialized holiday, but i love the thought behind gift giving. in many cases, it’s the byproduct of gift giving that i enjoy. the time spent with family, the surprises, the memories. it’s the holiday spirit; something i’ve had a difficult time getting into ever since i graduated high school.
this morning was cool. it was around 1am and concord mills was decently filled, although it was near impossible to find a parking spot. i split a cinnabon with my girl and a random lady with red hair bumped into me at the nike store and said, ‘excuse you.’ i shoulda threw hands with her, but these days i’m trying to mind my business and not let people get a reaction out of me. i didn’t get home until 2am. i was exhausted, but i fell asleep with the thought this holiday season would be one i’ll miss when it concludes in the near future.
