today was the great american eclipse. shoutout sebastian for giving my girl and i two pairs of glasses. if you’re reading this, i wish i could’ve made it to the whitewater rafting center to watch it with you and the girl you’re talking to, but we decided to each lunch at ishi on the university side and i couldn’t make it back in time.
i pull the sequoia to the backyard, and lance opens the door because he’s downstairs reading and he see us pull up. my girl sits atop the car awaiting for 2:41pm, the time when it’ll be 98% magnitude. when 2:41pm hits, i notice a few things. it’s still kind of light (although darker than a typical day), and it feels a bit cooler. lance points out how crazy it is that the sun still manages to light up the earth even with a measly 2% showing. he’s right. it’s pretty neat and kind of scary at the same time. a few minutes pass and we finish viewing the great american eclipse. i begin heading upstairs and as i make my way into my room all i thought was, will i remember this for years to come??
i guess 2% makes a difference.
