i was at la fitness lifting today when a man by the name of mr. roger introduced himself to me and give me some pointers. we end up talking for about 30 minutes about anti-vaxxers, the country if trump wins, the celtics, how he could never put lebron or kobe above jordan, and flat-earthers. it was an interesting conversation to say the least, but he was such a kind guy. i also found it funny when he told me his name was roger and i said my name back to him, to which he responded his name was roger.
ratha: what’s your name?
roger: roger
shakes hands
ratha: ratha
roger: no my names roger
lmaooooooooooooooo.
i finished my workout, shot around, then went to target for protein shakes and al pacino’s new memoir.

while reading the archer by paulo coelho, i came across a bookmark. on one hand, i’m glad they donated the book because it ended up in my hands, but on the other it made me question why someone would give up reading this story. there are life lessons in the book and relevant analogies that put things into perspective. i could never write something like the archer by paulo, so i’ll have to enjoy it and appreciate it from the sidelines.
as great as the archer was, i’ll have to read the alchemist next.

today was abnormally warm out, around 80 degrees. it felt like june or july and i loved it. i think i’m getting allergic to fall/winter pollen. usually, i only get allergies when it goes from winter to spring, but this is my first year dealing with them going from summer to fall. i have been spending a lot of time outside this weekend so it makes sense, but just like the heat, i hope this is abnormal rather than a routine thing moving forward.

i walked into ace hardware and asked the lady if they had loose screws. she laughed and another customer walking by laughed so i laughed lmao. i guess it sounded funny, but she helped me find what i needed so i could head back to the sequoia. when my brother was over a couple of weeks ago, i let my mom drive the sequoia. the latch ended up breaking. i finally had time to replace it today and it was the most frustrating fix i’ve done to the sequoia throughout my tenure of ownership. some parts like fasteners and plastic clips were so brittle they broke with little pressure. on top of that, the crevices i had to get to were tucked behind motors and plastic trim. i was outside for damn near 6 hours and still couldn’t get the job done. with the sun going down quicker and quicker, i’ll have to finish it next weekend probably.
i hope this latch lasts another 20 years.

we went to kbbq tonight at some mall in manchester. our waiter was cool, and the food was delicious. the beef bulgogi was sweet, just how i like it and the strawberry daquiri was made with carbonated soda water, which made a good drink great. normally the daquiris i get aren’t carbonated, but i actually loved it. afterwards we went back and put on white lotus. we didn’t finish the episode, but i’ve heard it’s a good show.
between that and hooping for 3 hours earlier, it’s been such a good saturday.

after getting off the phone with e, i walked into the gym with my basketball in hand and my basketball shoes in the other. we have a few weeks before the league, so i’ve been trying different shoes to figure which one i want to play this season with. today was the lebron 2’s. as i’m walking in, a taller guy held the door open and asked me if those shoes were the 2’s. i told him they were and he says he collects sneakers and wanted a pair, but he loves the lebron 3’s. it’s so rare these days to come across people who love 2000’s nike basketball silhouettes like i do, so i can always appreciate it when someone takes notice. though the court was dusty, i was slipping little bit too much for my liking. i could play in the lebron 2’s, but i have a few more models i’d like to try before making my decision.
the search continues.

earlier this year, i parked on newbury street and got a ticket. today, i appealed it and it was upheld. i was downtown in the summer picking up an order from nike. i pulled into a spot, got out, got my order, and came back to a ticket. what made the ticket worse was it was in front a hydrant. i didn’t see the hydrant, honest to God. it turned a regular parking ticket to a $100 ticket. when i appealed it, i told them i would pay a ticket fine because i didn’t see the hydrant, thinking they would be lenient, but the girl told me they were upholding the ticket because it was valid. man, i’m lying next time! i should’ve said i’m never downtown and that i was unaware or that i walked in on the guy writing the ticket (because i did) and he continued though i could’ve moved my car (true!). fuck this city. upon research, the city of boston makes around 80-90 million in yearly-revenue from parking tickets. despite my newfound appreciation for boston these last few months, there are many things i still hate about this city. mainly how they have so much money (at the cost of its residents) yet we (the residents) don’t get any benefit from it.
like why is the traffic still so bad the roads so fucked up?
where is all the money going??

we met at el patron in worcester tonight. the food was great, but what was even better, was this passionfruit agua fresca. i don’t even know what the fuck i typed and i’m sure i got it wrong, but it was this passion fruit drink that was to die for. plus, it came in this big ass cup. it was so good i got one to go as well. i had rice, beans, steak, and a taco. everything was great, probably one of the best mexican restaurants i’ve ever had. people say boston had good food, but i swear worcester has way better spots.
el patron had more flavors of their agua fresca so we’ll have to come back and try them all.

i went to target after the gym to get a protein shake. i grabbed a chocolate shake, but then decided to take a second look at some of the fruit. as i’m browsing, i see a fruit protein shake made by oikos. it was $1.89 per drink with each drink having 23g of protein. it was cheap af and good af. i grabbed two and downed them on the way home. they were way better than even the naked protein shakes with fruit. i’ll have to stop by later in the week to stock up, but what a tremendous find on a random tuesday night.
life.
