boston parking, 10.17.24

earlier this year, i parked on newbury street and got a ticket. today, i appealed it and it was upheld. i was downtown in the summer picking up an order from nike. i pulled into a spot, got out, got my order, and came back to a ticket. what made the ticket worse was it was in front a hydrant. i didn’t see the hydrant, honest to God. it turned a regular parking ticket to a $100 ticket. when i appealed it, i told them i would pay a ticket fine because i didn’t see the hydrant, thinking they would be lenient, but the girl told me they were upholding the ticket because it was valid. man, i’m lying next time! i should’ve said i’m never downtown and that i was unaware or that i walked in on the guy writing the ticket (because i did) and he continued though i could’ve moved my car (true!). fuck this city. upon research, the city of boston makes around 80-90 million in yearly-revenue from parking tickets. despite my newfound appreciation for boston these last few months, there are many things i still hate about this city. mainly how they have so much money (at the cost of its residents) yet we (the residents) don’t get any benefit from it.

like why is the traffic still so bad the roads so fucked up?

where is all the money going??
