good thursdays, 9.5.24

today we had the company outing at kimball farms. it was the best one i’ve been to since i’ve been here. better than thompson island and the museum of science. the food was actually really good. they had burgers and hot dogs. i hit a 2x2 and felt sick afterwards lol. i overate so much i couldn’t partake in the ice cream buffet. we did mini golf, which is always so fun. the weather was perfect, mid-70’s all day. it’s the type of weather you can either wear shorts or pants and be fine either way. on top of that, football is officially back tonight.

starting leagues, 9.4.24

i always wanted to join a basketball league the past couple of years, so i floated the idea around work today. i think we have enough players to join one in cambridge by shadyside. there are 3 team spots left for the sunday slot. my ankle is still a bit messed up from july, but i think i’m good to go. i need a few reps so i’ll get some shots up at ipswich, but once the season comes it’s time to get a ring.

championship fantasies, 9.3.24

we got the members back this year. it’s only 10 of us, but nonetheless it’s a great league. we had our fantasy draft tonight. i wanted to snag ekeler for a late-round steal, which was the plan. e called me right before one of my late round picks and asked about ekeler. i told him i’d grab him on the flip after i drafted jayden reed from green bay. right when i drafted green bay, e told me “no you won’t” and he drafted ekeler with his next pick lmaoooooooo. i also didn’t get jt, but i may try to make a trade for him later in the season. other than that, i got the players i wanted so we’ll hope for the best this season.

finished 4th last year, but i’m eyeing the championship this time around.

labor day activities, 9.2.24

i try to stay a month ahead of rdl365, but it’s been hectic lately. with september upon us, i took this weekend to catch up. today, i finished all of them for september. to continue my day of productivity, i washed the lex and the sequoia. it was a perfect day to do both as we had the holiday. we also have our work outing at kimball farms on thursday, so this week is extra short at only 3 days. labor day and we’re still putting in work.

spotting the bees, 9.1.24

lately, i’ve been finding dead bees in the house. it’s strange because i don’t think we let many bees, let alone bugs, in the house on a regular basis. dad was able to track it to a nest in the chimney. as he stood outside, there were bees flying in and out of a few cracks up the chimney. i asked if we could run the fireplace for one night to kill them and he said it could work, but it’s not fool-proof as the hive is inbetween the brick and the lining. he was able to cover the holes and spray some bee/wasp killer.

only time will tell if this solves the problem, but for now it’s working.

the milky way at dandilyons, 8.31.24

i wanted the milky way from dandilyons on friday as i was craving ice cream, but by the time i arrived they were closed. saturday i ran out of time as well. tonight, i was able to make it just in time. after fighting damn near 3 days of cravings, it was even better than expected tonight after dinner. i’ll take that as a win as we’re ending a somber august on a high note.

i got notified today that someone in phnom penh shazamed troubled spirits this past week. that’s ironic, but i’m hoping they’ll embrace me when the music pops off. troubled spirits was also shazamed in milan this week, too so that’s pretty cool. i was talk to t on the phone and she said that she believes it’s not going to take as long as i think for the music to take off. that made me feel good and has always stuck with me. i’m hoping that’s the case, but whatever it is, there is still a lot of work ahead of us.

driving home from work today, i look over and a car has a unc charlotte sticker on the back window. that made me so happy lmao. uncc is trying to rebrand to ‘charlotte’, so it makes me feel good seeing unc charlotte. i looked at the driver and it was an older lady, so she may have been there before me. i love it. uncc is the best school in the world with the best people and i’m glad somebody in the greater boston area other than myself agrees.

at least to the extent to put a sticker on their car.

wednesdays at work, 8.28.24

today was the first day back at work and i wasn’t productive at all. my mind is everywhere but here. work is a big part of our lives, but life is bigger than work. when i get tunnel vision i dial in on getting the job done, but oftentimes when the job’s done i’m left feeling like i missed out on so much. it reminds me of three years ago when i had planned to see dono in august, but i waited to finish a work project and by the time i finished the work project he had made his departure. i vowed never again and it seemingly happened again.

it began storming in minneapolis and they ended up delaying our flight more than two hours. then when we landed, it took forever to find an uber. i’m glad i got to see bagel. i missed him so much.
