indian food court food, 4.8.23

i went to burlington mall to get some shorts for the spring/summer. i have athletic shorts, but i need some chino type for going out and shit. i was able to find some for 40% off at express. they fit well in the fitting room, but sometimes it’s different out in the real world. i bought three pairs; black, navy, and brown. i would like a pair of khaki and whites, but they didn’t have my size in store. i checked the website while i was eating in the food court, and they have 40% off shorts on there as well so i might have to make that move. oh and by the way, after walking around the food court for 5 minutes contemplating which place i wanted to eat at, i tried the indian gourmet joint. at first, i got the three-meat special. i got two chicken tikkas, one chicken korma, and basmati rice. to my surprise, it was flame. still hungry, i went back for a two-meat special. i got two chicken tikkas with basmati rice. then i got a mango lassi. the color was light yellow which differed from maya’s so i was nervous, but it ended up being delicious. they will definitely be my go-to moving forward next time i’m hungry in the mall.

definitely a productive and a successful day at the mall on a saturday evening.

national tv debuts, 4.7.23

caleb hit me saying he’ll be on national television tonight. he would be on this show called penn & teller at 8pm on cw. i was in front of my tv at 7:50pm like sunday night football. man, when he came on the screen, that shit had me too hype. i was jumping up and down in my room lmao. i couldn’t be more proud of him. he’s a young legend. he had been talking about doing magic all these years and it’s so inspiring to see it manifest for him. i love the intro they did for him and his magic trick was crazy. he did this chicken and egg trick with a bandana, but turned it to a real egg. i can’t really explain it, but i’ll link below. he fooled penn & teller and came home with the trophy!!

i was unproductive all day up until around 6:00pm. i got up, brushed my teeth, took bagel on a walk, then fed him. when we were walking, it was misting. i got caught up in my thoughts thinking about life and everything it could be. i read this thing on twitter that said life begins to move at an increased pace as we age, therefore life is half-over by age 24/25. it feels true. everything since 2018 feels like a blur, and not in a good way. then in breaking bad, there was a scene i saw yesterday where walter tells jesse ‘the first day of the rest of your life begins now.’ he goes on to ask jesse if he wants to live in fear or hesitancy or something like that. although it was a quick scene, it resonated with me because it’s been on my mind all day.

with 30 looming, it seems a bit late to change the direction of my life completely, but i know my destination is waiting on me.

happy g day to my mom!! the wallet came in on time (thankfully). i facetimed chan so he was able to see her open her wallet in real-time. she made a joke that my dad never bought her a louis v as he laughed from the couch. that man could buy her unlimited louis v, if we’re being real. she was excited and i loved it. gift-giving for people i love is one of my favorite hobbies. i just wish i had more to give these days. the life i’m living is comfortable, but i want more out of it. because why life a life if isn’t one of abundance?

i think next year we’ll get her the purse to match.

chan and i decided to buy mom a louis vuitton wallet for her birthday. we overnighted it so the hope is it comes tomorrow in time for dinner. i’m excited for her, i hope she likes it!!

also, why did overnight shipping cost $20 when it was free last summer, smh.

i don’t remember falling asleep the last 3 nights. then in the middle of the days, i’ll take a nap. i took two naps today. during my first one, chan called me to ask about what we were getting mom for her birthday. the second one, i woke up after 3 hours with bagel by my side, randomly. considering all the sleep i’ve gotten lately, i don’t know why or how i’m still tired.

maybe it’s the new pillow.

breaking the fast food fast, 4.1.23

i don’t remember anything about falling asleep last night. i woke up at 4am with all my clothes on, my socks on, and my lights on. literally all things i cannot fall asleep with. i browsed my phone for a bit amid my confusion before we decided to get breakfast. nothing was open besides fast food, so i went to cfa which broke my “no fast food” rule. i got a chicken biscuit, a 10-piece mini, hashbrowns, and a sweet tea. the sweet tea (regular-sized) costed $2.78. that was the part that got me the most. how sway, how?! plus the straw she gave me was closed on one end lol. although the food was good, i felt guilty afterwards.

the no fast food rule was put in place for me to be better, to which i have been, but i’ll definitely have to be better than being better moving forward.

dandilyons season 2, 3.31.23

after an episode of breaking bad and eating galbi for dinner, we went to dandilyons in reading. there wasn’t much of a line, but there was a kid who i thought was autistic at the front when we got there. overwhelmed by the amount of flavors, i went with the milkyway ice cream that i got last year. it was so fucking good, like too good. i need to buy a carton and store it in the basement. that’s how good it is. yes, i cut out candy for lent, but i don’t think i could ever cut out ice cream now that i’ve moved up to new england. last year was wingstop and dandilyons, i think this year it’ll be galbi/ribeyes and dandilyons.

it’s still cold out, but we’re starting early this year.

after work, i went to danvers bed, bath, and beyond to return a pillow i bought last week. it was too soft. they didn’t have any firmer pillows in the store so i opted for a refund. driving out of the parking lot, i saw a kohl’s across the street. i stopped by there and bought a serta pillow for 60% off. as i was in line, there were two customers in front of me. one of them wanted to know the discount off her order. as she was told, she paid. after she paid, she wanted to know if they could look up her kohl’s card because she didn’t have it on her. the worker used her id to look up her kohl’s card but couldn’t because her id was expired. then she re-paid with her original form of payment. the second customer’s kohl’s card expired because he didn’t use it within 12 months, so he re-signed up for one and got the welcome offer of 35% off his first purchase. after i bought the pillow, i went to walmart to buy bagel’s medications and some velcro for a headphone amp i bought off amazon. it took me around 3 hours from the time i left to the time i got back home, which was a lot longer than expected.

i’m hungry and ready for the weekend.

being wrong used to bother me, but as time passes i’ve cared less and less for being in the right. one of the exceptions is what we have going on at the moment. i don’t want to be wrong about the things we want, the things we’ve convinced ourselves we need. some days it’s exhausting, i can’t lie to you. things don’t align and instead of crossing paths it seems we’re running more in parallel than ever at this point.

at least that’s how i’ve been feeling lately, though i hope i’m wrong.
