after-work wednesdays, 9.21.22

i have after-work plans again today. i’m excited, but i’m also tired. i think i’ll get home, walk bagel, then take a nap. i hope i can wake up around dinner time and not at 11:00pm like i usually do. i keep saying it, but sleep debt is real.

the key is, is the time worth the debt or is the debt compromising your time?

dbaze fantasy football, 9.20.22

because i skipped doing fantasy football this year, i told dbaze i’d help him with his team. money and i helped him with his draft, and his first week he won easily. this past week, he got handled. we gotta make some changes, but the waiver wire isn’t hitting like it used to. perhaps it’s because i’m not really invested in fantasy this year, but damn. i can’t even pick up a flex player i feel confident in for his team. i spent about 45 minutes (felt like 5) looking up players and analyzing them. that’s when i knew i had to put my phone down and get something to eat.

i gotta maintain my boundaries, otherwise i’ll get obsessive about it again smh.

after-work plans, 9.19.22

having after-work plans are the best. it feels like i’m making more of my time, sorta like getting more bang for your buck for what is the currency of life. today after work, i met up at the mercantile in worcester. it’s a bar adjacent to ruth chris right behind a parking deck across from the dcu center. the drive wasn’t too bad, though at times on the freeway it was congested. i got there at 6:40pm and didn’t leave until 11:30pm. they had some sort of political event going on upstairs, but it’s cool because i like when places are lively, especially on a night like monday. the lighting was ambient, the food was good, but the company was even better. my burger was surprisingly good. the waitress thought it was too red to be medium, but it was actually delicious. all in all, it was a good monday night. the best i’ve had in a while.

although life is about moving forward, i have a feeling when i reflect on tonight it’ll make me want to go back.

week 2 double l's, 9.18.22

the colts got shut out by the jags…how is that even possible. i do remember the last two times we played in jacksonville, we lost. last year, it was win and in and we dropped the ball. the year before it was game 1 vs jacksonville, and phil looked good, but we somehow let off the pedal during the second half. plus, the chargers lost to the chiefs on friday. what’s ironic is the colts play the chiefs, then the chargers play jacksonville next week.

bad week, but a bad week isn’t a bad season.

building the kobe collection, 9.16.22

i’m challenging myself to scale down my sneaker collection. instead of focusing on quantity, i wanna focuse on quality. i like all the shoes i have, but i don’t absolutely love them. i wanna have a condensed collection, but one that is special to me. i was able to get two grail-like pairs this past week. i got the kobe 6 eybl and the la brea undefeated 1’s. alerts on ebay to me are like sales to people who can’t control their urge to ‘save’ money.

i’m excited to wear them out, but the question is, where to?

complicated commutes, 9.15.22

on the way to work today, i switched it up and began listening to avril lavigne, specifically complicated. z100 used to play her all the time and i loved it. one night i fell asleep with the radio on and i woke in the middle of the night to them playing sk8er-boi. i was too turnt lol. those are some sleepy valley memories. fast forward to my commute home after work. i have my windows down and we’re going bumper to bumper. some guy pulls up in the left lane bumping complicated by avril lavigne. i looked over thinking damn, him and i are vibing on the same wavelength today, and please believe it’s a good wavelength to be vibing on.

it’s not the strangest of coincidences, but a coincidence worth noting regardless.

the cbd oil, 9.13.22

while reflecting on bagel and our journey together, i was stuck on the cbd oil dilemma during summer 2020. i bought bagel cbd oil in a proactive effort to take care of any joint/pain inflammation he may have been developing as time passed. i gave him 2 mls, so 2 doses, and he had the worst reaction. he was pooping everywhere, had blood in his stools, didn’t eat much, etc. he lost more than 15 lbs in 3 weeks. still though, bagel had pretty good energy. that guy is strong as an ox. when i read the review of the cbd oil, the overwhelming majority were 4/5 stars. one though, said they had to put their dog down because of this. i remember that specific review vividly because when i read it, i thought i had possibly made a grave mistake. this was after he began limping on one of his front legs a month before. it was a tough summer. the toughest actually. anyways, thinking of this, i went to the product page of that oil as i woke up. more one-star reviews are saying they had to put their cat/dog down because of this oil. it’s unbelievable. though we as consumers must take accountability and do our own research before providing our pets with supplements, i do feel a responsibility to at least write a review of bagel’s experience, in hopes that it could help someone else make a decision for their pet.

2 years later thankfully bagel recovered, but it’s a shame they’re still selling that oil.

the 10th on the 12th, 9.12.22

today is bagel’s 10th (tenth!!!) birthday. in all of his years, he’s never been to the beach, so this morning we woke up to catch the sunrise at red rock park near lynn beach. well he’s been to the beach, but never on the beach. i let him off leash and he was having so much fun. he even ran in the water as the tides were rising. there was an abundance of hermit crabs, and even some bigger crabs roaming around. it was a quiet morning. as the sun came up, i saw a surfer come from the sea. he must’ve been here crazy early. as bagel ran around, i was in deep thought. i kept thinking of how much he changed my life and if i end up changing the world in any way, it’ll be credit to him. dogs are so special, and it’s been my privilege to be on this journey for this long.
seeing as this is a forever thing, we’re just beginning.

happy 10th birthday bagel, dad loves you to the end of the universe and back.

21 years, 9.11.22

9/11 was 21 years ago. i know i probably type this every year, but i’ll never forget it. then seeing the memorial museum this past march, it’s just as surreal now as it was back then. there are so many people still affected, and i think there will be more people affected as time goes on. 9/11 changed the course of history forever, and it’s insane to think i was alive watching it all unfold.

time amazes me, yet it in the same sentiment, it also scares me.
