god intervening, 1.24.22

there was a chainletter in the myspace days that stuck with me. it came to mind before i fell asleep randomly. it’s pretty much a scenario where you are babysitting/housesitting for your neighbor. they call you and tell you to go get something from a specific bedroom. you go into the room, get the object, but when you walk out you see a clown statue. when the neighbors come home, you asked them when they got the clown statue. they say they never got one. that shit was so scary to me i had to share it everytime i came across it. i woke up at 3:40am thinking of that chain letter and when i looked to my side, i thought i saw a clown. it woke me up and i couldn’t sleep until 7am. i eventually went into work late at 10:30am. dad had a meeting so he worked from home, which meant i drove in. the day was long, i didn’t end up leaving until 5:45pm. tired as hell, when i walked to my car, i saw e call me at 5:10pm. he normally doesn’t call me this early, but i called him back. we end up talking until i pull up to the crib. given my lack of sleep and length of commute, being on the phone with e kept me from dozing off behind the wheel.

sometimes i feel god be saving my life on more occasions than i give him credit for.

i have never seen a divisional round this good in my life. yesterday:

bengals > titans on last second fg

49ers > packers on last second fg

rams > bucs after brady came back from being down 24 points on last second fg

chiefs > bills in ot after 25 points scored in last two minutes

absolute chaos. i was talking to e, and he said fantasy took it out of him from watching football. i was telling him how he missed out, but not me though lmao.

i wonder what next week has in-store for us.

monthly portraits, 1.22.22

i got some instax film in for my sq6 today. i’m trying to do two monthly portraits, one analog and one digital. luckily for me the sq6 has a self-timer. i don’t know how good it is or how good it focuses, but we will find out within this next week. plans for today are to go over hitesh’s with alan and eat some lunch. it’ll be a good time, and i know the food will be amazing. last time i went over hitesh’s he cooked up some chicken curry with rice, then we had hella snacks, dessert, and tea.

tonight, when i get back, i’ll watch the playoff games with my parents and record music later in the evening.

cd stereos, 1.21.22

when i bought my portable dvd player a few weeks ago, i located my dvd collection along with my cds. looking through my cds, there were a few i wanted to listen to but weren’t on streaming services. i’m speaking mostly on mix cds, but i do want to listen to commercial cds as well because there is nothing like cd quality music. those that know, know. so tonight after work, i went to walmart and bought a stereo. it was $31.88. it has bluetooth, radio, and cd (of course). the speakers aren’t the best, but it’s perfect because there’s no bass so i won’t feel like i’m violating when i turn my music up. plus, because the head unit has blue tooth, i can always get a set of bluetooth bookshelf speakers. the first cd i played was all that i am by joe. i rearranged some things in my room while i let it ride in the background.

playing cds is simply a different experience, i love it.

standstill traffic, 1.20.22

before getting on 93-s, i went to mcdonalds to get some hashbrowns. i figured while i’m getting hashbrowns, i might as well get a biscuit. so i got a biscuit and some hashbrowns. when i get on 93-s, it’s standstill traffic for 15 minutes literally. in a way it was good because i was able to eat my breakfast, but perhaps my breakfast was the reason i got caught up in standstill traffic.

oh and also one year ago today, philip rivers retired from the nfl. i remember coming into work and sitting at my desk to open up instagram to the colts making a ‘thank you philip’ post. it caught me soooo off guard, the news hit me like a bus. a year later i’m still missing my guy!!

1 year, 1.19.22

today was my 1 year anniversary at my job. it’s ironic because today, my last job shut their doors. i’ve met some incredible people this past year and it’s surreal how this was all new to me exactly 365 days ago. things seem routine these days, which can be a good thing in terms of stability, but not so much in terms of growth. i’m in a grey area of the two, but i’m enjoying myself as ambitious as i think i am.

perhaps i’ll reach the two year mark next year, perhaps i’ll be on stage somewhere singing songs i wrote when things got too routine for my liking.

hurricanes in town, 1.18.22

i’ve never been to a hockey game, but i thought about going tonight to see the hurricanes play the bruins. i didn’t make much of it (because i don’t watch hockey) but i still wanted the hurricanes to be a part of my first experience. long story short, i passed it up. come to find out after i get out the shower, they smashed the bruins 7-1!!! sheeeeeeeeeeesh. good news is they’ll be back on thursday february 10th.

high winds, 1.17.22

i kept waking up thinking the house was finna blow away. i thought it was a dream, but when i looked at my phone, it was 7:47am on january 17th in the year 2022. as i gained consciousness, the house was still getting pushed by crazy skrong winds. i googled the weather and there was a high wind advisory for winds up to 70mph! i don’t know where i got this from or when it settled within myself, but winds make me anxious. there’s no reason i can think of, but it makes my heart start racing. regardless, i looked at bagel sleeping and went back to bed with him. we woke up at 11:47am to most of the snow melted and most of the winds gone.

time to record and write on this glorious monday off.

underemployed, 1.16.22

i saw a commercial on mtv fall of 2012 for a show called underemployed. it looked so good from the advertisements i kept seeing. when it premiered, i watched the first ep and fell in love. the show is about 5 friends who recently graduated college and are going their separate ways, together (if that makes any sense). i never finished watching the show, but mtv released season 1 on dvd before cancelling it. i bought the dvd and it’s been sitting around the house for 8/9 years at the point. with my new portable dvd player, i began watching underemployed again and it is so fucking good. i kind of don’t want to finish because i know there is no continuation wherever the story ends. the first season was healthy, too. it’s 12 episodes, 40 minutes each. regardless, i’m going to finish this time around. it’s been so long since i’ve watched that i’ve forgotten a lot of details. it’s almost like i’m watching for the first time again.
