backyard skiing, 2.20.21

today, uncle dave came through with the skis to show me the basics. he asked a few weeks back during the superbowl if i’d be interested in taking ski trips, and i told him i would be. there is a small hill towards the back of my parents back yard so that is where we began. uncle dave showed me techniques on how to stop, how to climb up a hill with skis, and how to properly put on/take off skis. it feels awkward at first, but i got used to it by the end of the afternoon. i’m sure i was going slow, but it felt fast af. that’s how i remember the only time i snowboarded with ben in west virginia freshman year of college. i had him record me snowboarding and during the playback i was literally going as fast as a speed walker. all in all, i had tons of fun even though i fell three times lol. my mom said she is worried i might hurt myself, but i think with skiing, i’ll do it how i did with skateboarding and just cruise.

the northeast is giving me plenty opportunity to expand my ever-growing collection of hobbies.

shoutout.
