after the gym i went to target and they had plenty of oikos protein shakes. i got whatever they had left in stock. tien sent me a picture earlier this week of her doing the same and i’m thinking we’re a part of the problem now that i’m typing this so next time i’ll just get some for a few days.

one of the many and countless things my mom did for me when i was younger was she got me a physical magazine subscription to national geographic and slam magazine. i really think that shaped my love for writing and reading. these days, much of everything is online publications. if not, it’s e-reading. i miss having hard copies of things from magazines to books to cds. it’s much easier to read than to stare at a screen, in my opinion. last month, i decided to sign up for a national geographic subscription. today, they came with the november and december issues. i’m excited to read. it’ll be a nice change of pace from my usual psychology reads.

i lifted earlier today after work, but after i came home and walked bagel i went to la fitness. originally, i was only going to stretch and run a mile but i ended up hooping for 2 hours after doing both. i played 6 games and went 3-3 on tired legs. i could’ve played another game, but i decided to head home. it made me think why i was so tired on sunday. i didn’t play nearly as much and i was gassed.
tomorrow is my rest day, but from thursday to saturday i’ll have to prepare for our second game sunday.

in my downtime, i like to browse reddit. some of my favorite subreddits are r/watches, r/liminalspace, r/80sdesign, and r/askreddit. the ask reddit thread that popped up was “what did you see in someone’s home that told you they were rich?” there was a comment that said “a copy of architectural digest magazine with their house on the cover.” that’s fire. i think i’ve got a new goal post i’d like to achieve in this life. seeing that was ironic because my therapist told me something earlier tonight that put things into perspective. she said think about how much change has happened in the last two decades of my life. i agreed that it was a lot. then she asked me what else would happen in the next 20 years of my life. i couldn’t tell you and neither could she, but the possibilities are almost endless.
it gave me a glimmer of hope on this chilly monday evening.

we had our first game today for our volo league. we lost 45-36. i went 2-8 for 6 points. i was gassed and definitely not prepared. i’ll have to shift my gym routine to focus more on cardio rather than weights for these next two months. afterwards, schuni and i went to an italian joint near the beach in revere. the food was good, but what i loved most was the live music. it was a bunch of older folks singing, playing, and telling jokes. i really enjoyed their show and their company. the lady came up to me and asked if i sang because i could go up and sing if i wanted to. i told her no, but that i enjoyed her performance. she says they do it on the first and third sundays of the month from 12-3pm.
i told her i’d see her next time because i’ll definitely have to pull up again.

we went to wndr in boston tonight, which is some immersive/interactive museum experience. it was a cool place for photos, and they had a place where you could write whatever and post it on a wall. we sat in the middle of a light show and i started to get a headache. lowkey, i might be epileptic, but i don’t know though. the whole experience went by quicker than i expected, but we walked to chinatown afterwards for a warm meal. we stopped by a boba place before ending the night at puttshack. it was such a fun night and such a good time.
nights in the city look different these days and i’m all for it.

i took my glove off as i was heading out the lab and i swear i had a tan. either it’s a sign i’m working too hard or i need to get away to somewhere warm. matter of fact, i think it’s both because how in the world does a nitrile glove tan you??
can’t be doing this 9-5 forever, smh.

gsk hosts a day every year called “how to thrive at gsk” at their waltham location. last year, i was the only one from my team to go. this year, a few more people pulled up so that was good. they have seminars and talks the whole day as well as provided lunch. the talk that interested me the most was the one on ai and how it’s changing technology and the world around us. the internet changed the world tremendously and i think ai will be the biggest change since then, maybe even for a while. the lunch was great. they had some butternut ravioli, chicken, and steak tips. we played bingo and i got to meet new people from other gsk sites. all in all, this is probably the best workday of the year.
prizes, free food, volunteering opportunities, and a day off from lab?
i’ll take it any day of the week.
