as we were pulling up to fenton, i had asked if you ever ran into anybody from way back and you told me no. well let’s back up, fenton caught me off guard because i hadn’t been in the area in so long. it’s a nice addition to cary, especially with cary towne center not being there anymore. after catching a few games and eating a plate, as we were exiting i opened the door then seen delvin. i was surprised he recognized me. that’s my guy and i hadn’t seen him since 2019 or so. we caught up for a few moments before he went inside. ironic how i asked if you had seen anybody we knew coming up and i ran into someone.

that’s life in 19 for me these days.

nights at pnc, 10.31.24

i flew back home today for an extended weekend. the first thing i did was get bojangles at 9:30am in the morning. the second thing i did was nap. the third thing i did was go watch the hurricanes take on the bruins at pnc. i’ve only been to two hockey games and it’s been the canes vs the bruins. the first time was at td garden where carolina won 6-1. the second time was tonight where the bruins were beat 8-2. 8 goals?? that’s lowkey crazy. i was three rows up from the ice, so the seats were incredible. i think this might’ve been the best sporting experience i’ve ever had. it’s up there with the 17-point comeback by phil and the chargers on sunday night football in pittsburgh in 2018. afterwards, as we were walking the officer directing traffic asked us how the game went. a girl dressed in a lorax costume told him we got beat bad lol. i just finished the night with cookout and judging by how good it was, the 15-minute wait was worth it.

i swear the energy back home is so different.

the dodgers won the world series tonight. what a great 5 game stretch. the dodgers came back after being down by 5 in the fifth inning. i don’t watch baseball like that so i’m not sure if that’s a regular occurrence, but even i knew something was wrong. growing up i always hated baseball because i thought it was boring, but this series made me a fan of the sport. i’m for sure checking-in to fenway a lot more next year.

a day of obstacles, 10.30.24

i had a long experiment today, so i figured i’d go to work early, get off, eat, prepare for 919, pack, and sleep as my flight is early tomorrow morning. this was not the case. after leaving early to go to work, i was caught in traffic. to make matters worse, the shutdown cambridge street and the detour added another 35 minutes to my commute which made it damn near 2 hours in total. when i get in, i need to print a document so i grab my laptop. it’s dead so i search for my charger. somebody took it. i ask schuni for his charger. after 5 minutes with his charger, my computers not turning on. it’s bricked so i take it to robert. he does something with the battery and gets it back working. i print something out as he updates my computer. i go to the printer next to tech dev’s office only to find out it’s malfunctioned. when i go back to reprint what i needed to a different printer, robert is updating my laptop. frustrated, i walk in and begin my experiment. hours later i decided to take a break so i leave the lab. when i come back, the it team took the tablet i was working on! i was able to get it back an hour later and finish my experiment. it’s now 6:10pm and i’m leaving. i still have to pack, make bagel’s food for the days i’ll be gone, do laundry, brush bagel’s teeth, and do a few days of rdl365 all before 4am.

i’ll also have to find some time to sleep somewhere in between all of those things.

it’s monday and work is working. the only thing i’m looking forward to is the gym, a walk with bagel, and the world series. the gym should be a morning to mid-day thing, bagel shouldn’t have to walk in chilly temps, and i should be at the world series.

i lost a nail-bitter in fantasy today to schuni by 3 points. i think my fantasy season is over. i haven’t won since the first week, so that’s 8 straight losses lol. on the bright side, at least my hot steps came in today. they fit a little tight, but maybe they’ll stretch out over time. speaking of time, time to set my fantasy line up for next week.

the leak, 10.26.24

i somehow can’t cover a leak after replacing the rear hatch on the sequoia. every time i spray water on the lock actuator and i check inside the door, there’s a slight leak. i’ve been sealing it with rtv and shining a light through it, but i can’t figure out where the leak is for the life of me. so far, my strategy has been to just keep sealing around the actuator from the inside. since it’s black, maybe i’m missing a few spots. with the sun setting earlier and me not getting home from work until it’s dark out, i’m hoping to hit the uncovered spots and figure this out sooner than later, smh.

hibachi on a friday night, 10.25.24

we went to a spot called koma for hibachi tonight. i’ve been to hibachi plenty of times and have never liked it so i was apprehensive at first. when we got there, i ordered the chicken and steak. the guy cooking was so fun and lively, which made the experience better. but what made the experience great was when the food was served. it was delicious. i was so surprised because i don’t like hibachi. not to say i haven’t had a good experience, because the experience is generally a good one, but the food never was up to par for me. that is until tonight. i would’ve ate 3 plates if i could have, but i could barely finish the plate i ordered.

tonight’s hibachi was worth the drive, we’ll have to come back sometime for sure.
