being in the hospital brings out emotions i can’t quite comprehend. on one hand, this isn’t the place you’d like to be, but on the other, it’s where you would want to be in the event something goes wrong. it was my first time in the icu and seeing all the tubes and wires connected didn’t sit right with me. especially because when i left to work this morning, things were better. they weren’t good, but they were better. as soon as i got home from carrie nation, i got the call and went to the hospital. we were in the waiting room for 30 minutes as we were waiting on the transport to arrive. after talking to the nurse, i decided to drive back home.

hopefully tomorrow we’ll get better news, as we’ll be praying for better times.

friday’s at carrie nation, 4.19.24

we were at carrie nation tonight in beacon hill. the food was good besides the steak, which didn’t have much flavor. the live band was incredible, and we actually got to talking to one of the guys in the bathroom out of all places. he said the guy he was playing with plays the organ at the bruins games, which is actually cool af. afterwards we went to some bar in the area where they had pool in the back. we conversed as i sipped on one of the best mocktails i’ve had in a minute.

another good friday night with good people.

the mushroom burger, 4.18.24

on cambridge side, schuni went to order some lunch from cheesecake. i asked him what he got, and he told me a mushroom burger. i thought it was a burger made of mushrooms because he’s pescatarian. long-story short i see him at the cafe a few hours later and he said the burger tasted just like a burger. i looked it up and it was an actual beef burger, just with mushrooms on it. i should’ve double-checked because we were both thinking it was like a mushroom burger from shakeshack. he said it was the first time he’s ate red meat in over 10 years, smhhhhh.

crazy part is cheesecake had an impossible burger and a vegetarian burger, too.

the universe through books, 4.17.24

sujeet needed a ride home because his neighbor works in construction and drops nails on the road from time so his car had two nails in his tires. i dropped him off and he invited me in. we got in, and his place was nice. it’s the first floor in a 3-story cambridge house. he showed me some of his books and we started talking about life and the universe. i can always get lost in these conversations because i think i have a curious mind at heart. that, and when i get focused, i get tunnel vision until i figure something out or understand it. he gave me a few recommendations to read so i will definitely tap in once i’m done with the current books i’m reading now. i’ve said it and i’ll say it again, sujeet is one of the most down to earth people you will meet. during our conversation, we heard a knock at the door. it was a package for him which was a perfume from diptyique that a famous cricket player wears. he opened it and it came with samples, to which he told me to take them home. he’s intelligent, funny, and an overall good guy. i’m lucky to have met him along the way during my journey in biotech.

though this world is filled with bad apples, good people keep finding me and i hope i never lose sight of the blessing that it is.

the first nice day, 4.16.24

today was the first nice day of the year. there’s this in between time when the seasons switch from winter to spring and from summer to fall that i use hot air in the morning on the drive to work but utilize the air conditioner on the way home from work. we are in those times right now and i’m enjoying every moment. i wish i could’ve ate lunch outside today, but i opted for the gym instead. plus, i had a training at 1pm for smart labs, but maybe i’ll get some fresh air tomorrow.

patriot’s day 2024, 4.15.24

happy khmer new years and happy tax day and happy patriots day. i celebrated all three by working from home then doing my taxes. the good part is that i ate a chipotle bowl for dinner today and i submitted atlanta, tampa to streaming services. it’s dropping tuesday april 23rd 2024 at 9:19am. atlanta, tampa is the first song off my first project, coming home lateee. i am tooooo excited. february, march, and april have been quiet thus far, but it’s consistency from here on out. just had to get my footing right.

and my taxes done, smh.

i was talking to money and that atlanta, tampa lost files will set us back almost 2 months when it’s all said and done. these weeks go by so quick when i’m creating. i don’t know why it is. i’m trying to drop coming home lateee in june some time. i can’t push it back anymore. i got about 6/7 weeks to finalize the project, the youtube videos, the promotional roll out, the linear notes, and the cover art. it’ll be a tall task, but it’s one that will be worth it. more importantly, one i’m capable of doing without compromising expression. i’m nervous and anxious, but i’m also excited.

tire explosion, 4.12.24

i was on the way home from work on 93 north when i kept hearing/feeling a rumbling noise. i thought it was because there were construction trucks driving adjacent to me, but once they passed, i kept hearing/feeling the rumble. i looked in my rearview and there was smoke coming out the back of my car. i pull over and my tire had exploded. i don’t know how the hell it happened, but there were gashes everywhere on the tire. i looked around the highway as i’m never pulled over just to take the moment in. it began raining and all i could do was laugh. i texted money and he said it was a blessing i got off the road no harm. then schuni called to check in to see what was going on. i was able to get my spare off and as i was beginning to jack up the sequoia, a cop pulls up and tells me he called someone. the guy pulls up, helps me change the tire, and i was able to go on my way. i thanked him, then went to the cop and thanked him as well. he said mass dot has people that help with roadside assistance, which is actually very convenient should someone find themselves in the predicament i did today. i made it home and now i’m writing in between changing/getting ready to go out tonight. we’re doing spin and hopefully bar taco.

even though we had some trials earlier, the sun is coming out the clouds which is setting for a good start to the weekendddddd.

the first meal, 4.11.24

today was technically my first full meal since i didn’t want to shock my stomach last night. ironically, it was almost a 24-hour fast because i didn’t eat until 4pm. it was a busy day at work, plus i was put on a project with a bad behaving serotype. i decided to drive through route one on the way home to see what restaurants caught my eye. i saw prince’s pizzeria, then remembered that how amazing the pizza was i had on a date there some time back but it was too much to turn around as it was on the other side. i seen they had a new wingstop location, but i passed because i had wingstop on sunday. i stopped by applebees because i thought of the times spence and i used to go to the one off jw clay in charlotte and how i used to get this 4-cheese pasta with honey chicken tenders. to my surprise, they still had it. it was as good as i remembered it, but the portion was wayyyyy smaller.

i got an order of the pasta to go as well, so not only was it my first meal, but it’ll be my second meal later tonight.
