we went on a boat today for our department work outing, then to bar taco for food. more on that another time, because i think i made a decision that may have changed my life. well not really, but really. after bar taco, i almost went home. last second, i decided to go to a bar with ping-pong tables called spin. at spin, i played some ping pong, which i’m not really a fan of to begin with, but it was fun. i also won one game of uno. the part that may have changed my life was being introduced to shuffleboard. that shit was so fun. we ran the table and i ended the night 4-0. i don’t know what it is, but you slide these metal disks over a wooden table with some type of salt/sand on it. you amass points based on where the disk lands. there’s a zone for 1, 2, and 3 points. it was so fun. i looked up tables for the house, and the range from a couple hundred, to a couple thousand. i definitely need a couple in the crib when i get my own place.
until then, i’ll keep going to the bars to play.

i went to dave & busters to cash-in on their half-price game wednesdays. as soon as i pull up after work, it’s already a little packed, but nobody is on the claw machine. i hop on and it’s extremely difficult. in fact, i didn’t even win once in 30-40 tries. 30-40 tries, although accurate, is a bit much, but my competitive nature can lead me to be a bit stubborn at times. eventually, i went to the pirate wheel of fortune. i stayed there for the rest of my time at d&b’s this afternoon, and i was able to hit the 1000 jackpot 3 times!! i also missed it by about 3 times, which seems kind of crazy. i almost have it down to a science, at least for my liking. i put the pin of the wheel by the 90 to the left of the 200 that’s right of the 1000, then give it a little spin. i know that was hard to follow, but i can show you better than i can tell you. apparently. i left with over 8000 tickets and 400 points left to play for next wednesday.
i might goin head and bring home the other squishmallow they had on display if i keep at it.

i pulled up to my regular pf today and it was closed due to an hvac problem. thinking it was a sign not to workout, i almost went home, but i decided at the last second to drive to the reading planet fitness. i could not find a bench, much less a machine. like the older gentleman at the lat pulldown mentioned to me a few weeks ago, the reading planet fitness is just too busy. i was able to get a decent workout in, spending a little over an hour there.
i don’t know when my planet fitness will be back up and running, but this is looking like the regularly scheduled program for the next few weeks, maybe even months.

sundays on newbury is beginning to be tradition-like for me. we went downtown to shop, eat, and walk. every sunday until sometime in the fall (i think september or october?) newbury street will be shut down. there were street performers, tents, music, and food vendors outside. it was nice to walk the street and have the extra space, because the sidewalks get jammed-packed regularly.
i didn’t purchase anything, but getting the cardio and getting to check out concepts for the first time was pretty cool.

on a whim last night, i went to dave and buster’s. i have an addiction to claw machines, so i wanted to start the weekend off by satisfying my everlasting craving. the claw machine with the plushes was almost empty, and even then i couldn’t win anything. i played a few games, then came up on the big claw machine. instead of plushes, there were plastic points. i never play for points, but i decided to try something new. my first grab was 1500 tickets, which proved to be lucky (shoutout the double fortune from mandarin last night). a lot of the big prizes in the store were anywhere between 6000-11000 tickets. i stayed last night and was able rack up 8800 tickets. today, we went back and got 2500 more tickets then cashed out on the blue squishmallow. his name is keith and he does furniture building. at least i think that’s what it says? i still got some points left on my card, so i gotta go back and get me another plush via the big claw machine. i might go ahead and go back sometime next week.
this addiction is taking over.

went to mandarin reading today and got the double fortune after dinner. it’s only happened a handful of times to me so far, but i take it as a sign of good luck and prosperity every time it does. one of the fortunes was ass, but the other one was fire. it read “not all closed eye is sleeping, nor open eye is seeing.” fob accent aside, that’s a good one.
let’s see what luck this brings me in the near future.

yesterday i went to meetup someone from fb marketplace on federal street for some azure yeezy slides. i was more worried about the legitimacy of the pair, to which he proved to me they were legit by showing me his confirmed receipt and email. the slides looked good, until, i pulled out the second one wrapped in the box. it was dented and kind of dry looking. he said he didn’t know they were like that and he only took out the right slide. he seemed embarrassed and apologized. if he did have malicious intent, i was on my p’s and q’s so i gave him the benefit of the doubt. because of this, i ordered my pair off stockx. i had to pay taxes, a processing fee, and a shipping fee, which i wanted to avoid with a local deal but it is what it is lol. i’m hoping stockx doesn’t give me a fucked up pair, too so there’s that. i wanted the slides to add to my slide/clog collection, plus i think they’d look good with all my duke gear.
i don’t even know if the blue matches, but if not, i’ll find a way to make them work.

we went to bonchon in allston for lunch today. i haven’t had bonchon since charlotte. matter of fact, the last time i had bonchon was with dono and dbaze. we went there when dbaze stopped by valentine’s day weekend of 2020 right before the pandemic. that was when dono, a$, and i lived together and dbaze was just a drive away. 2020 was the last time i had their soy garlic wings, and it was just as good as i remembered it. though life back then was much different than it is now, it’s good to know there’s some constant in this timeline.
whatup dono!

i forgot to mention a few things about yesterday. one, i’m addicted to claw machines, but if you’ve been keeping up, this you probably already knew. i went to walmart for water flavors, then had to try the claw machine. someone rearranged it, so i tried my luck. i ended up getting the squishmallow i wanted and some athletic duck. they were both right above the prize drop, so it wasn’t much skill involved. it’s all luck anyways, but i like to think it’s perseverance. second, i went to target to purchase a new nighttime toothpaste. it’s made by a company called hello. trying new self-care products get me excited. earlier at the mall yesterday while stopping by apple to fix my mom’s ipad, i went to nordstrom and picked up a body scrub and a face wash.
between adding to the prize collection and new products awaiting for me during my evening routine, tonight should be one of accomplishment and relaxation.
