seaport dinners, 12.10.22

we had a reservation for del frisco’s in seaport. let me tell you. the food was delicious. we feasted tonight. there was calamari, salmon, mashed potatoes, lobster mac and cheese, ribeye, and butter cake with ice cream. they also brought out a bread that was buttered on top but had honey butter on the bottom as a complimentary starter. shit was absolutely delicious. my ribeye was undercooked, but it was still tasty. i took half of it home, along with the lobster mac and cheese. it’ll make for a good meal at some point over the weekend, and i’ll be looking forward to it just like i was looking forward to our reservation tonight.

perhaps even more so because i know what the food tastes like now.

maya indian, 12.9.22

i took jaanntrear in the summer to an indian joint near long horns in wakefield. it was my first time there, but it was incredible. all i remember was how good the tikka was and how the ac was broken lol. after having punjab palace a few weeks ago for lunch and being disappointed at the tikka, i thought about maya. tonight, i went back. it was packed. there was a party of some sort and i couldn’t hear much of anything with the exception of drunken laughter and glass clinking. it didn’t matter because the food was just as good as i remember it, which is impressive because nostalgia has its way of making things better than they seem. the tikka was so damn good, especially paired with the garlic naan. i gotta go back at least every other week now. it’s crazy how much of a chokehold tikka has on me. 

it’ll be like wingstop in the summer, except it’s maya in the winter.

i went to burlington macy’s tonight to return an item. they told me i should go to the northshore mall to return the item because that’s where i bought it. so then, i hop on i-95 for 25 minutes, walk in, and inquire about a return. i bought my item at the men’s macy’s, so that’s where i parked. a lady at the counter told me to go to the women’s macy’s, which was a a 5 minute walk in the mall. long story short, they weren’t accepting returns for my specific item, but the manager made an exception and was able to do it. afterwards, i bought myself a couple colognes as a christmas present to myself. one of the colognes, i’ve been holding off on purchasing for a while now. they had the tester at macy’s, but they didn’t have it so i had to order it. why is it that when i finally decide to purchase this specific cologne, it’s not available in store?!

at least i was able to make a return, so i can’t really complain.

warm december nights, 12.7.22

we’ve been at the point where bagel and i have been wearing our coats during our evening walks. it’s the norm, so i don’t think much of it. after work today, i dressed my son up in his jacket and put mine on. as i’m walking the first round, i start sweating, which isn’t typical. i was too caught up in my thoughts to realize what a nice evening it was. it was comfortable weather, especially for it being night-time. instead of doing our 3 rounds, bagel and i did 5. it made me miss the warmth. only 3 more months of this, and i’ll be free again. well, maybe 4. or 5. who knows…

i have to keep reminding myself we’re not in north carolina anymore.

on the way home from work, i saw a subaru with north carolina plates. i love seeing cars from back home. it always makes me wonder what they’re doing here. like why tf did you come to boston?? it’s colder, the cost of living is crazy, people aren’t as nice, and there’s no bojangles!! i don’t get sometimes. maybe it’s a job or career opportunity that brought them here, because if it’s one thing boston has, it’s their schools and job opportunities. after all, that subaru was leaving the city during rush hour.

planning pto, 12.5.22

so i have a total of 13.5 days pto. that’s like 2.6 weeks. i have to plan this by the end of the year somehow. i think i’ll take next monday off, then next wednesday thru friday, then the week before christmas, and roll over 5. i said i would do a better job of distributing my days and taking vacations last year for this year, but you know how new years resolutions go.

maybe i’ll try again next year.

chargers took a loss to the raiders. i went to target and bought 4 items. a 6 pack of beaters, a seto kaiba figure, a naked protein shake, and retainer cleaners. it was $52 bucks, which is wild. then the colts are currently losing 47-19 with 4:29 left in the 4th. 

we’ll try again next sunday, especially because the chargers got flexed into snf in their game vs the dolphins.

saturday night weddings, 12.3.22

my cousin got married tonight, and the wedding was beautiful. they did the khmer part yesterday, but i had to work, so i couldn’t attend. tonight was the reception. it was supposed to start at 6pm, but it didn’t begin until 7:40pm something. i hate cambodians lmao, but literally that’s how my wedding will go so i can’t even say anything. i got to eat good. there were soups, steak, lobster, fried rice, and more. my nephew even pulled up with the gucci belt and he’s in 8th grade lol. they were all dressed nicely. at one point my uncle, whose daughter got married, got on stage and started singing. after he got off, i told him ima need him to sing at least one song at my wedding. he responded by saying he’ll do up to 5, so we might have to make that happen. actually, we definitely have to make that happen. the first dance was a mix of two songs. i didn’t know the first song, but the second song was hold on, we’re going home by drake. that was so fire. my cousin and her husband were dancing, just singing to each other. it was really wonderful. i chopped it up with my cousins, took photos, and hit the dance floor. typically, i’m hesitant to dance, but the dj was playing candy rain, so you know i had to turn up one time for the one time. before we left, people were eating ramen. my cousin told me ramen helps sober people up, but when i got back to the table, my dad was eating ramen. i know he didn’t really drink, so he was just enjoying the ramen vibes. we left with 15 minutes to go. on the way home i couldn’t help but to think about my wedding. and who will be there? and what type of music there will be? and what type of food we’ll serve? and where it will be? and most importantly, who i’ll marry?

i wonder, i wonder.

wingstop weekends, 12.2.22

it might have been a couple months, but i decided to hit wingstop tonight after the gym. when i pulled up, i saw the planet fitness two doors down, which i totally forgot about. i could’ve easily hit that up then walked to wingstop. well, i still had to drive to medford regardless, so either way it didn’t matter which planet fitness i went to. i got a good pump in, so i figured i could handle an 8 piece combo with a sandwhich. instead of a lemon pepper sandwhich, i opted for hawaiian. i like the hawaiian flavor because of how sweet/tangy it is.

wingstop has a top 3 or top 4 sandwhich in my opinion and since they made it proper, i might be back sooner than a couple of months.

how is it december already?? we were supposed to hit a conference in waltham, but we got caught up doing lab work. by the time we were done, it was too late to go from cambridge to the conference, so we got lunch at yard house in burlington. yard house is a great american restaurant. they got like 100 beers on tap, not that it matters to me, and a great menu. you need restaurants like these, they keep shit together. always dependable and always a lively environment on a friday night.

except we’re here on a thursday, but you get the point.
