cary korean bbq, 10.21.22

i went to korean bbq last night with chan. it wasn’t that good, with the exception of the corn cheese. i ain’t never had nothing like it before, but it was delicious. today, his friend mike comes into town, and we go to another korean bbq place. the food was better, but the corn cheese was worse. i guess you can’t have it all. we ordered the short rib, and it was the best meat out of all we cooked, but nothing is like la galbi back in boston. i know i talk down on boston food often, but sura might be the saving grace.

having all this mediocre galbi has me impatient to get back to the cold, though i’m really in no rush because being back home is my type of vibe.

lion's park, 10.20.22

e pulled up on me and we went to lion’s park to hoop. he brought his lebron 14’s for me to hoop in, and i actually really liked playing ball in them. the first few games i couldn’t stop laughing because we were rusty af. eventually eduardo and his roommate pulled up and we got some 2 on 2 action (pause). then a little kid told me i couldn’t guard him. he had to be 4 foot and like 10 years old. he kept shooting the ball and blowing kisses at me. we ran 1v1 and he got skunked 5-0. e later told me in the car it’s lose-lose when you play a kid because if you lose to a kid, you lost to a kid, and if you won, you beat a kid. shiiiiiiiiiiiid lol. nonetheless, it was a good day with my brother e, and the kids were entertaining as hell. the most entertaining part was before we went to the courts though. we stopped by food lion to buy some drinks, and when i got to the car, i pulled down my tech fleece (i had shorts on underneath) and an older black lady yelled at me from a few parking spots down. she said i better be glad she can’t whistle, because if she could, she would be. me and e were cracking tf up.

even just writing this, i’m laughing just thinking about it.

life is good back in the 919.

stopping by andy's, 10.18.22

after checking out the holiday inn, we went to andy’s for lunch. the same location i used to work at across my mom’s salon. we got sat and was met with menus from a server with two hickeys on his neck lmaooo. i got a hot dog, an andy’s cheeseburger, and fries. it was as good as ever. the only way it could’ve been better is if i cooked it back in 2009. i’m playing, but you get the point. the custard strawberry milkshake was delicious, which was an upgrade from the one i got at steak n’ shake last weekend in atlanta. although the milkshake was dessert, the real dessert was a warm donut off the conveyor belt from krispy kreme.

i know i’m on vacation, but i need incorporate some cardio while i’m here the way i’m eating.

sundays with spence, 10.16.22

we pulled up on my brother spence today. he gave us a tour of his house. it’s beautiful. i also got to meet megan for the first time. her and spence are meant for each other, i’m too excited for their wedding next year. storm pulled up and we went out to eat at a joint called la cocina. not only was it good, but it was great. i got a chicken burrito, a beef burrito, rice, and refried beans. it was hitting on another level. when we got back to his crib after dinner, mr. and mrs. noble pulled up. it was so good to see them. mr. noble is the man and mrs. noble is the sweetest. after we left, we went back to our hotel near crabtree. i told spence we gotta get up again this week for dinner as i’m here until saturday.

i miss home and i miss being close to my brother.

hopefully in the next few years i can make some moves back down south.

woods of terror, 10.15.22

tonight, we went to woods of terror in greensboro. on the way there, this guy driving behind me skipped the double lines and drove past me. we ended parking adjacent to each other in the woods of terror parking field. i don’t get why people do that. it’s like when someone cuts you off only to end up at the same red light as you. useless. regardless, the only other time i’ve been to woods of terror was in 2015 with money and lance. it was good last time, but this time was even better. the actors were on point, the night was a perfect temperature, and the vibe all around was spooky. i was super impressed with the decorations. for example, when we walked through the bait shop, it smelled like salt-water fish. those attention to details made the experience that much better. i was more sight-seeing than actually getting scared. in 2015, i walked through this 3d tunnel with spinning graphics and i remember feeling like i was about to fall over. it always stuck with me because the illusion was so real. that same 3d tunnel was here this go around, and i literally felt i was about to fall over again. i thought i was prepared, but i wasn’t. luckily, i maintained my balance. it took us 2 hours to finish all the attractions. afterwards we sat at the pumpkin patch finishing the night with warm apple cider donuts.

october is my favorite month and spooky szn is in full effect.

dinner at la santa, 10.14.22

we got up with meezy and his girlfriend, daisy, tonight at la santa off glenwood. i’ve never been, but the inside was a vibe. the music was loud, but we were still able to converse and catch up. meezy told me to get the carne asada, so that’s what i ordered. it was incredible. he’s a homeowner now, and i’m super proud of him. i told him i wanna move back home to settle down, and he agreed that the triangle is the best place to raise a family. i responded by telling him how wild it is that we’ve seen each other grow up. from talking about minor inconveniences during 9th grade pe class to talking about buying property and having a family.

growing through time is a special thing, i’m telling you.

70's in cambridge, 10.12.22

tom, alan, and i went out to cambridge brewing company today for lunch. though it’s been rainy, gloomy, and chilly, it was sunny and low 70’s today. literally, the perfect fall day. it reminds me of october back home, which i’m only a few days away from experiencing. i had a double burger, which was decent, with fries and water. the lunch i brought, i left in the fridge for tomorrow. i’m hoping to get out early so i can enjoy this weather with bagel.

i don’t foresee too many of these days, if any, are left until 2023.
