d&b l's, 8.31.22

i got out of work early today, so i went to dave & buster’s in woburn. on wednesdays, d&b has ½ priced games. the only thing i really enjoy at d&b is the claw game. i love claw machines. i went to the bar, got a cup of iced water, then went to work on the giant claw. because it was wednesday afternoon, it wasn’t busy at all. i tried for a blue bear adjacent to the prize box, but it would not budge. the d&b claw machine at concord mills was tough, but i don’t remember it being this tough. i could barely move the blue bear. eventually the claw machine broke down, smh. that’s when i knew i had to go. i told the worker and he called a tech as i left.

next wednesday i gotta walk out with a plush.

august mondays, 8.29.22

happy monday. i had to drop off samples to world courier and when i went to hand the samples off, i saw a guy standing in front of a white van. i asked the guy if he was world courier. he said you don’t remember me? when he said that, i recognized his voice. it was freddy. he used to work for dens, but he left in january. i was wondering what happened to my guy. i had never seen him without a mask, but we caught up. his daughter is almost a year old, he likes this new job better because he likes his boss better, plus he gets more pto. i gave him my number and told him to hit me up. when i handed his phone back to him, he told me he already had my number saved. i gave him a hard time because he didn’t hit me up, but hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll have some time to grab a bite to eat.

i definitely did not expect to see freddy today, but it was a pleasant surprise.

sumner tunnel closures, 8.28.22

due to the sumner tunnel closure, when i drove dad back from the airport, we had to take us 1 all the way to 95 then back home. the way the roads are set up make it extremely difficult to navigate. it’s too many twists and turns, which make no sense at all lol.  for a city with the most “educated” and most “intelligent” people, boston sure doesn’t know how to civil engineer a city.

the south is much better in that regard.

pad thai phase, 8.27.22

i went to ginger gourmet for dinner tonight. instead of getting fried rice, orange chicken, or sesame chicken, i opted to get chicken pad thai with two egg rolls. the chicken pad thai was too good. it was similar to the drunken noodles i got with dad and dave a month or so back, just less spicy. i’m expanding my horizons with dishes and my taste palette. it’s because i’m so tired of getting the same thing. i guess that’s how life happens when you’re indecisive.

changes have to happen one way or another, right?

dave's hot chicken, 8.26.22

y'all ever been to dave’s hot chicken? it’s decent, but it’s expensive. the woburn location was super busy, took me 20 minutes to get my food. then i went to shake shack for a strawberry milkshake, and it took 20 minutes too. now i gotta pick up my cousins from the airport, but it’s about to rain, and it’s about to be rush hour.

i thought i could avoid traffic this friday, but turns out traffic is unavoidable no matter way day it is.

the work party, 8.25.22

there was a work party where the gsk ceo came and talked to us about the acquisition. one of the more interesting things about her to me is she went to school for classics and modern languages. i wonder how her journey ended with ceo of a biopharma company. that’s big though, and i think it gives me hope that i can do whatever i want to do regardless of what my degree says i should do.

people have passions and i believe mine are worth more than a 9-5.

the oak tree at freedom park, 8.24.22

i still keep up with charlotte news, even though i’m over 800 miles away. i get news to my inbox about the city. i don’t remember signing up for it, but it’s nice to thumb through when i do get the emails. i read an article about how they tore down the big oak tree in freedom park. they estimated the tree to be 80-120 years old. the article contained several people mentioning memories under the tree, whether it be tripping acid, reading a book, or fishing. i know trees aren’t conscious (for all we know they could be) but it’s an awesome reflection to realize how they’re a part of our memories the same way we could be a part of theirs.

days at the dentist, 8.23.22

i took the day off to go to the dentist. when i was younger, i clenched my teeth while bouncing on a trampoline and one of my molars chipped pretty badly in the back of my mouth. i got it filled either in middle or high school. during my cleaning a few weeks ago, they said the filling was wearing down due to use and nightly grinding. today, they replaced it and fit me for a nightguard. it went super smoothly, and the people at the dentist i go to are so kind. i just got home, and although i’m hungry, i can’t feel half of my face. i think in the meantime, in between time, i’ll go to the gym.

then after i’ll be ready for a feast.

gloomy mondays, 8.22.22

happy monday. it’s gloomy here in cambridge, but hopefully it’s better weather wherever you’re reading from. i actually like the aesthetic of the gloom, but i don’t like feeling it, though it’s nice to feel something different at times.
another week, another day, another dollar, another opportunity.

thank you god.
