back to the park, 8.11.22

today was kind of chilly. it was mid-70’s and i felt like i could’ve worn a light sweater. i took bagel to the park and had to walk at a brisk pace to feel comfortable. there were a lot of people at the park for a thursday, but i view that as a good thing. i hope this mild weather doesn’t mean summer’s coming to an end, but i know park days with bagel are getting more limited as the days become shorter.

like anything in life, and life itself, we’ll have to make the most of it while it’s here.

group lunches, 8.10.22

we went out as a group today for lunch. it was on the company, and it was at some italian place at lab central. i got the chicken parm, and it was good. the pasta was a lil dense, but we made it through the meal. afterwards, we went for ice cream. it wasn’t a bad day by any means, plus i’m about to leave the office and get home by 4pm.

i need more wednesdays like this.

radio at the dentist, 8.9.22

it’s been a few years, but i finally went to the dentist for a cleaning today. they said i great teeth, but there’s two things. one of my fillings i got when i was younger is wearing down. i got it after i clenched my teeth when i was jumping on the trampoline with one of my friends and part of my tooth just snapped off. the second was i need a nightguard. i was told this the last time i went to the dentist, but i thought they just wanted money. i’ve been noticing though i’ll wake up with a sore jaw some nights. not too sore, but enough to notice so i have to get a nightguard. what was a cool moment was when i was checking out, the lady asked me if i listen to kiss 108. i said no i don’t, but i’d check it out. as soon as i said that, the station came back from commercial and played what’s my name by drake and rihanna. i was like damn, what timing. i told her that’s a great song, and it’s definitely been so long since i’ve heard that on the radio.

i drove home listening to kiss 108 thinking how magical being at the crossroads of music and timing is.

back to the north, 8.8.22

i fell asleep around 1am something. i just woke up and it’s 3:58am. my alarm was set for 4am, in increments of 5 minutes. i am dead tired, but i have to return my rental to hertz, then board my 6am flight. i should’ve taken day off, but dad’s going to pick me up then take us to work. this was a good ass weekend, i need to come back more often. there are more people to see, more good times ahead, and more memories to make.

when i look around, i truly am a lucky guy.

mi parce, mi parce, 8.7.22

i just got back from a night out with sebastian. we hit superica got tacos, got two free donuts from krispy kreme (hot), and went to jenni’s for ice cream. on the way to his house in noda, i dropped some of my ice cream on an ovo shirt i wore for the first time smh. when we got there, i met his new bearded dragon, khaleesi. i also got to see my godson leonidas the great. we talked family, new business plans, and our new jobs. he’s working at bank of america, and well, i’m in the lab all day in cambridge. we walked through southend where there were so many new bars/breweries i hadn’t seen before. we played a simpsons arcade game at pins, then walked up to the top floor to talk and get a view of the skyline. the city definitely changed, and usually those establishments don’t intrigue me, but i found myself wishing i was back here to be a regular at some of those spots.

i guess i’m changing, too.

ratha and the city, 8.6.22

two years ago, the city had nothing to offer me. i thought i had outgrown it due to the stagnation i was feeling. two years later, i feel it’s everything i’m missing. charlotte is without a doubt a better city than boston. the culture is better, the people are nicer, and the food is greater. dbaze, money, and i rolled up to whitewater center, but it was storming so they stopped all activities. i’ve only been to whitewater once or twice, but the times i went, i didn’t participate in any of the activities. can’t believe i took things like this for granted. maybe i wouldn’t feel this way if i moved to los angeles or miami instead of boston, but that isn’t the reality. we walked through this furniture store called restoration hardware. i had to pee, so i went into one of the bathrooms, and it looked straight out of a movie. it inspired me like crazy, which is what dbaze said the store would do.

it’s incredible what you suddenly see in a place you’ve moved on from.

doppelgangers, 8.5.22

i woke up at 5:00am to find out my flight was delayed until 10:32am. i go back to sleep, then dad drops me off at the airport. as i walk through tsa, i catch eye contact with a guy quite a few times actually as we are waiting for our bags to pass through the x-ray machine. he sticks his hand out for a pound and tells me i look exactly like his home jc. i’m like oh word?? he gets his bag, and as he’s putting on his shoes, i go up to him and ask to see a photo of jc. i ain’t goin lie, jc sort of favors me, or actually i do favor him, or maybe it’s best said that we favor each other. kind of. he said he was going back to southern california, and we wished each other safe travels. as i’m walking to the gate, we run into each other again, then we have a short convo as we are going up the steps. we eventually exchanged ig handles before we go our separate ways. he’s a cool dude, and i told him i’d be in southern california within the next few months, so maybe we could link up for a chargers game or something.

meeting people in life is such a coincidence, yet such an awesome thing.

home for the weekend, 8.4.22

it’s 9:30pm and i still have so much to do before my trip back to the qc tomorrow. i have just brushed btg’s teeth. i have to finish laundry, pack, get his medication for the 3 days i won’t be home, then get his food ready, then clean my room a little. i hate coming back to a hamper full of laundry and a messy room. i’m mad tired from work, commuting, and working out, but these things must be done before i leave.

i’m excited to be back home for the weekend.

earl's then jp's, 8.3.22

went to earl’s for dinner then to jp’s for ice cream. it was my first time at earl’s, and my second time at jp’s. that combo goes crazy. i love going to one place for dinner then another for dessert. that’s one of the simplest pleasures in life i find myself indulging in when given good company.

and tonight, was for sure good company.

hooping on a tuesday, 8.2.22

we went 3-1 in post-work basketball today. dave got a new ball, and during the pregame shots, it felt really good. i was hitting from 3 for most of the game, which is something i don’t ever do. my game is driving and mid-range, but the 3 was falling in for me today. i think it was the ball. it’s similar to the one i use at ipswich, which is a little heavier. i felt really good today, hopefully we can continue that momentum into next week.

getting cardio is good for the health and winning is always fun.
