plans with the cousins, 6.23.22

first off, happy gday to big bro!! 35 years old, we definitely will celebrate when he touches down in boston next month. today, i came home from work early with my dad. we took the townhall from home, then he had another meeting to 7pm. afterwards we went to my auntie’s house in lowell. my cousin cooked lobster, fried chicken, and a pleathora of other food. it is always a good time seeing extended family, even though extended seems too distant to describe our relationship. one of my cousins has a bull-breed pit/english bulldog mix (if i had to guess) named bowser. he’s such a cool dog and the whole time he was running around/looking for food. when i returned home, bagel definitely smelled him on me. maybe next time i’ll bring bagel around during their july 4th celebration at the lake house, but he just be acting up too damn much lol.

got home and finished the upper part of the backyard. then i went with my cousin to the park with bagel. afterwards we ate lobster, then twix ice cream for dessert.
not bad for a wednesday night, if you ask me.

the longest day of the year, 6.21.22

i got out from work early and surprisingly touched down around 3:20pm. i talked to my dad about my day, then cut btg’s nails with the new dremel for the first time. afterwards, i laid on my bed and passed out. when i got up, it was 7:40pm. i walked downstairs and my dad was outside watering the plants. i told him i’d get started on cutting the grass, something i’ve been putting off since the weekend. i got half the backyard done before it got too dark, then i walked bagel around the neighborhood so i still got (most) of what i wanted done. i thought the nap did me in, but i guess if there ever was a day to run behind, it would be the longest day of the year.

ticks on ticks, 6.20.22

no work today means time to get my sanity back. i’m hanging with the family all day. even though it’s been one night, bagel is enjoying everyone at the house. he gets to beg for food, bend the rules, and get pet by literally everyone. crazy thing is, after my cousin and i came back from the mall, i was petting him and there was a huge bump on the back of his neck. i immediately know what it is, i look and it’s the biggest tick i’ve found on him ever. this mf had to be there for at least ¾ days. when i pulled the tick off, bagel was bleeding. i took the tick outside and my mom killed it. when i went back upstairs, bagel was still bleeding. i padded his neck down, but then i wanted to find his skin where he was bleeding. when i moved his hair out the way, there was another tick at the same exact spot! i couldn’t believe it. i pulled that mf out and killed him in the backyard, too. bagel didn’t seem to be phased, but damn, i usually don’t let ticks get past me so this took me back.

northeastern ticks are relentless, sheesh.

i woke up to a house full of cooking and catching up. my cousin and my two aunties from california flew in early morning to visit us. they’re here for the next two weeks. i told my cousin i would show her around boston, but i don’t even know the city all that well. i guess that’ll give us a good excuse to explore. apparently there’s a lot to do so who knows what we’ll find.

i’m hoping some good food and some good times with the family.

i went looking for an old tumblr theme i bought. i searched my email, then came across Vicky following me on tumblr. i used to save emails of when people would follow me on tumblr because it made me feel good they’d be interested in my writing. i went to the link and it wasn’t there anymore. maybe she deleted that blog or changed her url to the one allison sent me, the one that inspired and began this whole running diary thing. 2014 was so long ago, high school was even longer. still, it doesn’t feel like it some nights. i miss the simplicity of it all.

new drizzy, 6.17.22

drizzy dropped a surprise album. it’s mad different, but i love when artists get experimental. a lot of it sounds house-influenced, but i don’t mind because i do enjoy house music whenever i come across it. so far i only like a few tracks, but the ones i like really do it for me. liability and downhill are incredible. maybe the album will grow on me, we’ll have to see.

it’s only day one so i can’t make too many premature judgements.

thompson island things, 6.16.22

we rode a ferry to thompson island. the first few hours we had team activities which were actually hella fun. there was one that threw me tf off. we had three people on these wooden skis. each of us had a string attached to where we were standing on the ski. we had to walk with the ski’s to the end of the cones. it was difficult af lmao. there was another one where we had to wear a fireman hat and walk with a spoon full of water to fill a cup at the end of the line. if the hat fell off, you had to dump ou the cup of water. all in all, it was tons of fun. it was chillier than i thought, but i spent some time around the fire while other coworkers made s'mores. i didn’t make any, but i did have a chocolate bar lol. i just got home a few minutes ago and i’m tired af.

i think i’ll take a nap, walk bagel, then hopefully watch the celtics lose the finalssssssssss.

the email for the work party said there would be an opportunity to hike, so my dad texted me to ask if i was still at work. he wanted to know the store i got my running shoes from. he said he was thinking about going there to get some shoes for tomorrows outing. i told him i could go since he was going to get out late. i pulled up to fleet feet and sent my dad a photo of the hoka shoes. he points out the same exact ones i got. this is how i know good taste runs in the family.

i just bought a size 9.5 and i’m heading home, hoping traffic isn’t too bad because i’m tryna go to the park with bagel before sunset today.

today tom and i processed another maps. that’s pretty much all the work we’ll have this week. tomorrow should be labeling things to be moved from our temporary office space, to our permanent office space this weekend. it’s not much work to be done tomorrow with the exception of a few housekeeping things. i’m ready for the work party, though i don’t know what i’ll do with co-workers for 8 hours. i’m there to try something new and eat good food.
