if there’s anything about cambodians, it’s that
we love to gamble. i have never been to a casino before, but we all went today.
when i walked in, there were crazy amounts of lights, machines, and old folk. i
played a few variations of slots and ended up losing around $30 quick af. to be
honest, i don’t even know what i was looking for in any of the slots. about 40
minutes pass and i begin exploring the casino. it’s actually pretty spacious,
but i ventured out to the other side and saw black jack tables. 21 is easy to
play in theory, but before i actually jumped off the deep end, i watched the
dealer play some random guy. he came and dropped 3 - $100 dollar bills. within
10 minutes it was gone. as he got up from the table, he exclaimed that it was
the quickest he’s ever lost in 21. seeing that made me nervous, but i told
myself to step out of my comfort zone. i ended up splitting a $100 bill. i told
myself i would only play half of it, so 50 beans. 15 minutes later, i end up
losing it all. i was definitely up at one point, but i wanted to double my
money so i kept playing until i eventually was forced to hold an l. i went back
and told my dad about it. i said i had $50 in chips left and i wanted him to
play. we go back and turn that $50 into $240 at one point. eventually, we end
up calling it at $115. i tell my mom about it and we go and turn $20 into $65.
so all in all it wasn’t a loss, and we walked out in the positive! both my
grandpas lost money, but all that mattered is we went and had fun. i remember
the grown folk going to casinos after family functions when i was younger, and
now i’m a part of the crew.
though the money is nice, the most valuable aspect of the casino for us is time with family.
definitely can’t wait to hit it up again.
