to come in or not to come in, 11.13.20

a lady comes in last month and asks if we are hiring. i told her we just hired 2 people and she insisted i take her daughters name and contact information down. she wrote it on the back of the receipt as i told her i would relay this information to the manager. she tells me how it would be perfect for her daughter because she needs to lose some weight and she can study on the clock lol.

today, she comes in and buys a meal. she asks if i gave the information to my manager and i told her i did. upon asking for updates on the hiring situation (to which i have no knowledge) she walks to the door, yells to the car that i told her to come in (i didn’t). i met her daughter and had a brief (awkward) conversation. they left minutes later, but in these situations, i don’t know what to say because i don’t have anything to say. i appreciate her being a mom wanting the best for her daughter though.

i’d just rather sew and felt than to have forced interactions.
