the rubiks cube, 12.2.20

before going to panama with gmb, i bought a rubik’s cube with the intent to learn how to solve it by the time i got back to the states. i was on the plane to newark fidgeting with it, before putting it away. morgan saw me, and asked if she could see it. i gave it to her and she solved it within in 2 minutes. i was so impressed, but of course morgan knew how to solve a rubik’s cube. she was great at so many other facets of life, so great dbaze and i labeled her as the goat. i ended up bringing the rubiks cube back to the states without any knowledge on how to solve it. since then, it has sat in my room and traveled with me through two moves to two houses. before work, i picked it up telling myself i would learn to solve it before weeks-end. i looked up a few tutorials, got a feel for it, and 5 hours later it was finished! albeit there are algorithms i still need to memorize, i accomplished my goal. not only did i learn about my rubik’s cube, but i learned something about myself and perhaps life. what was put off for 4 years, was done in 5 hours. not that i am more talented, more intelligent, or better than anybody else, but i too can be capable of a goal i put my mind to. just like anybody else.

i wonder what else i can accomplish that i’ve been putting off…
