i took today off work due to a mean-ass headache
from the 2nd moderna shot, but my spirits were lifted when my grandpa came in
from throwing some trash away. he had a big box in his hands, a package for me.
when i brought it to my room, to my surprise, it was the figure i wrote about
here and here. so the story behind the figure (according to the ebay seller)
was that one of his best friends and his best friend’s wife worked at warner
bros back in the 90’s. as a promotional gift, they received this statue of bugs
bunny doing the air jordan pose. this commemorated their collaboration for the
air jordan vii hare, which was a grail pair i never got my hands on when i was
collecting sneakers. the statue is beautifully painted, and the details are
sick. the jordans bugs bunny is wearing are more or less the air jordan vii
hare’s. they even have the bottom treading identical to a real pair of vii’s!
he’s connected to a nike wooden base by magnets. the piece is bout 13-14 inches
tall if i had to guesstimate. it’s definitely one of my favorite display pieces
i have next to the kobe vi terrarium. right now, it’s on the bottom shelf in
between my two snoopy’s, so i’ll have to find a better place for it.
today has been rough, but i’m already feeling better just looking at the statue.
