the free drink, 5.27.24

i bought a new comforter, plus i had to wash my blankets, so i went to a laundromat in wilmington today. i bought some food, brought my laptop, and a few beats to listen to along with some songs i recorded last night. the thing i forgot? a drink. i was eating and i got so thirsty. luckily at the end of the strip, there was a cafe. i walked in and asked how much a drink was. the guy (who i assumed was the owner) responded by asking what i was referring to. i said like a soda or a water. he gave me a cup and pointed to the drink machine. i asked him how much and he told me not to worry about it. i walked over to fill up my drink and he asked if i needed some ice or a cover. i told him i didn’t need one and thanked him as i walked out. that was so nice of him to give me a free drink. i’ve never been to his restaurant before, but i will be sure to come back and sit-down next weekend.

kindness exists in the world and i’m appreciative for it because no matter how small the gesture, it’s always a big deal to me.
