on the way home tonight i listened to the final
35 minutes of the latest episode of your own backyard. your own backyard is a
podcast dbaze put me onto over a year ago about the unsolved mystery of kristin
smart, a college freshman who went missing in 1996. in the final bits of the
episode, he goes over what he thinks happened to kristin based on facts,
witness accounts, and logic. i always suspected paul flores killed her, but i
never thought he drugged her or that he hid her body in plain sight the whole time.
it’s a really chilling listen if you listened from episode 1 to now. the crazy
part (not to take away from chris) is that he’s just a regular guy who decided
to research this case because it hit home and he’s helped tremendously in
solving it. charges were finally brought up last month for paul and his father,
which has to be extremely emotional for kristin’s family. it makes me think
that anybody can make a difference if they’re bold enough to try, and that’s a
powerful, powerful thing.
big kudos to chris in helping seeing this thing full circle.
