reedy creek running, 2.7.17

today i’m running bagel at reedy creek. walking up by the volleyball court next to the swings, there’s a paraplegic on his electric wheelchair doing rounds up and down the mini hills in the surrounding areas. as he’s riding the hills, i begin to think about how we take the most natural of our abilities for granted on a daily basis. i am walking. i can run. i can jump and shoot a basketball. some people cannot even walk. if i want to go downstairs to get a snack, i can do that. a lot of people do not even have the ability. in the middle of my personal revelation, he rides past me and stops about 15 feet away. he’s drinking water as i’m passing by. we make eye contact as i wave and say hi. although he didn’t respond, he didnt need to, because he was happy. i couldn’t do anything but smile because i was happy, too.
