i’m beginning to like poke bowls. my brother got one when i saw him for his birthday in june. he asked if i ever had one, and i told him i hadn’t. it looked good, but the food was cold. more than flavor, i’m a big texture and temperature guy. fast forward 3 something months. i’m trying seoul poke bowls off south boulevard last week. it was good flavor, but the chilled chicken and shrimp was throwing me off. fast forward again to today. after buying a table top only at ikea because they didn’t have legs in stock, we headed to kingfish poke bowl by the jimmy john’s in university. they built another jimmy john’s in university off 49, but i’m talking about the original one (real ones know). i got the same bowl, except with shrimp sauce. no lie, the cold shrimp and chicken didn’t bother me as much. the flavor was there, and the rice was warmer. you pay a lot for the amount of food you get, but besides the sauce, you can make your bowl fairly healthy. maybe during the next times i go, i’ll mind the temperature of the shrimp and chicken less and less.
we’ll see.
