paint matching, 4.14.20

i have a pair of kobe v’s with paint rubbed off on the toe cap. i went to get them paint matched at home depot a few days ago. during the process, the lady, ms. rhonda, was so patient and so sweet. she matched the paint and i went about my way. the paint on the label was an exact match (an exact!) but when i put brush to shoe, it dried so much lighter. thinking i was doing something wrong, i shook the sample and brushed the white label just like ms. rhonda. the paint matched perfectly again. i guess because of the synthetic rubber, the paint dried super light.

i went into home depot today and luckily for me ms. rhonda was working. she remembered me and paint matched the sneakers again. this time though, we put the paint on the shoe directly to make sure it matched instead of the white label. it took some time, but again, ms. rhonda was the sweetest. after her 3rd try, she got the paint to match! she told me if she had the resources, she would open up a business that made paints specifically for sneakers and all the different materials they are made of because of how much money she could make. we both laughed and i thanked her before leaving.

it’s been 2 hours since then and the shoes came out great.
