meeting new neighbors, 10.18.18

this sounds bad, but i don’t be opening the door when i’m not expecting delivery or company. a few minutes ago, i was hanging with bagel in my room. i hear the doorbell. i ignore it. i hear it again, and figure i should go answer it. i go downstairs and it’s a black man at my doorstep, who i’ve never seen before. he tells me his name is thomas and asks if the truck parked in front of his house is mine or if i know who owns it. i tell him it’s not mine, and the only car i have is the gold sequoia in the drive way. we begin talking and mr. thomas tells me he’s been in this neighborhood for 23 years. he said when he first moved here, there were only 3 houses including his. mr. thomas then says he sees bagel and i walking every day. i laughed and told him it’s must, that it’s routine for us to walk twice a day at least. he says he likes bagel’s gait and thinks he’s a good looking dog. i thank him and he asks if he’s a red tick coonhound. i told him catahoula and he said he’d never heard of catahoula before. he ended the convo saying he was going to get some dinner and i told him to be safe.

the conversation with mr. thomas left me with two conclusions. 1, mr. thomas is a friendly gentleman who keeps his lawn pristine, and 2, people see you even though you may not realize. life is a grand show with many acts and characters, and you never know whose watching, even if just for a scene.
