i have an appreciation, i guess you can label it a slight obsession, with mass production. mass production fascinates me. how can a product, especially of great intergrity and build quality, be duplicated for the masses?? for example, how the hell has mcdonald’s sold billions of burgers? the taste has to be duplicated billions of times. but for the taste to be duplicated, you have to duplicate the process, which means duplicating the tools used in the process to deliver the product. it blows my mind. or how about how toyota can mass produce reliable vehicles year in and year out like it’s flat out nothing. these thoughts of mass appreciation come to me from time, usually when i see a product that makes me question how or why. tonight at the chinese buffet, i was eating, talking to alexis when i noticed shattered glass lining the booth we were in. upon further observation, shattered glass lined every booth in the restaurant. each had similar spiderweb patterns. i was thinking how they produced each slab of shattered glass. one would have to take into account the surface area of the glass, the point at which it is struck, and the force it is struck with. it’s all so precise from the process to the mathematical calculations of force and timing.
are you not entertained?!
