lunch witnesses, 5.23.24

we were eating uno pizza provided by smart labs for lunch outside. it was my first time having deep dish pizza. i didn’t enjoy it as much but that makes sense because i love domino’s brooklyn style pizza, which is a very thin pizza. the weather was warm, but it was getting gloomy as the clouds took over the sky. just when it began to rain, we hear a loud pop. it sounded like when dbaze got his car hit a few years ago when him, donovan, and i were hanging out in my room before dinner. i didn’t connect the two as the rain made me think it was lightning. schuni says “oh my god” then turns to me and tells me to call 911. i look up and in between the moderna building and our building is an orange prius with his emergency lights on. then we walk over and two construction workers are helping a guy walk slowly to one of the picnic tables. his shirt is ripped and he has a huge bruise spanning from his ribs to his lower back. there is also a knot on his head the size of a tennis ball and he is bleeding. they had a grilled cheese vendor in the courtyard who brought him napkins for his face. schuni calls 911. the fire department arrives, the cops arrive, then the paramedics arrive. they take him off on a stretcher as the rain begins to pick up even more. when we went to check on him, we could hear he had trouble breathing. he was in visible pain, and understandably so. i asked schuni what happened after we got inside, and he said that the car had hit him and he went upside down. schuni said he saw him in the air, and he landed on his head. when it comes to blood, bones breaking, accidents, and just overall gore, it’s hard for me to hear, much less see those types of things. i pray he makes a full recovery.

what a lunch.
