before filling my tank, i stopped by steak n’ shake for dessert after eating with money at huey luey’s. it was a long wait, but as i was at the window, the car behind me honked a handful of times then got out the line. i hate people like that because, what’s the point?? it’s not like we can expedite the drive-thru. when i pulled up, the cashier told me my total was $10 something. i thought it was odd because i only ordered one shake. she must’ve noticed my confusion because she repeated the order. it was indeed two shakes. i told her i ordered one chocolate peanut butter shake. she remembered, told me the total, then forgot to put the order in. for this, she made my milkshake and gave it to me for free. i offered to pay, but she told me i was good. she also thought i was going to be rude when i pulled up because the people who ordered the two milkshakes were just that. i told her they must’ve been in the car behind me that honked and pulled off. we agreed because it made sense. she went on to mention how there’s only 5 workers, and they’re about to lose two due to their shifts ending. i’ve been in that position in the service industry, so i know how it feels. i’m just glad she didn’t have to deal with the car that got out of line.
people need more patience, but definitely more understanding these days more than anything.
