in my biology class we’re learning about habs. habs are harmful algal blooms. i find it very fascinating. pretty much habs are algal blooms stemming from an overabundance of nutrients that have detrimental affects on marine-life as well as humans. what an algal bloom does is lower the oxygen levels of the water it is in causing mass sea-life die-offs. isn’t that crazy?? i’ve never gave much thought to algae’s importance to our planet, but damn is that shit crucial.
