days at the creek, 3.23.19

i got up early to meet professor goff and fellow students on the southside for a creek clean up. what a beautiful morning, a beautiful day. it was spring without the pollen, summer without the humidity. i didn’t realize how much trash people litter. i knew it was a good amount, but my findings within half a mile were substantial. some guys found a heavy-duty safe thrown in the creek. i saw a wheel, gloves, socks, and even a lady’s flat. just one. when i picked it up, i wondered if it could be evidence pertaining to a cold case, but maybe that’s just the 20/20 in me. my mind quickly changed direction as next to it was a sprite can that had to be from the late 90’s to early 00’s. the design looked familiar, almost as if it were from my childhood, which meant the can had been sitting creek-side for nearly 2 decades! by the end of the creek clean up, i felt refreshed. it feels good not only to be productive, but to be conscious as well.

conservationists aren’t lying when they say we are trashing our world. literally.
