living in apex, mom always cut my hair. well, she
was a hair stylist with her own salon, so duh. but, delvin was a barber the
whole time i knew him, too. being that i’m in town, i hit him up and we linked today for a cut. first time he ever cut my hair. i haven’t seen him since i
left to st. louis in 2011, pretty much 10 years. it was good to see my guy. we
spoke on how everything has changed, and he told me he has a new 300 now
because some lady hit his mazda right after he got done paying it off. he also
told me to drive by the old crib because mom and dad’s garden isn’t there
anymore. they also put solar panels on the roof, too. things have changed
tremendously, but there are some constants along the way. delvin of course
still collects sneakers. his collection was crazy when we were neighbors, i can
only imagine now. he’s still the same dude i knew back then. what’s wild is
charnale has a kid, dom is having a kid this year, so next it’s gotta be delvin
lol. we reminisced, joked, and caught up. being home gives me a feeling like no
other. it’s both the location and the people. life is special every time i’m
here.
i want to move back badly, but i have a lot to learn and a world to explore before then.
